Why global shipping, charging customs etc where no charge was before

What a master scam. I have purchased always ask for USPS, and only paid custom dutys once. You can bet I will not be buying from any sellers using Global shipping....As we are all aware that used or parts built under NATFA usually don't carry duty charges.

You echo my sentiments exactly. Someone in the loop is getting a cut that was previously not there. I too will not buy from anyone using the GSP if they will not ship using the postal system as well. It is what it is.

I too don't like the Global Shipping program for the reason you mention and also the tracking of items is pretty bad.  As for the previous answer I don't know what fee this person is referring to.  I bring in lots of items over $20 via USPS/Canada Post  and the only time I have ever been assessed any taxes or service charges or anything was the odd time The value of the item is in the range of a few hundred dollars.  The only thing worse than the Global Shipping program for fees is UPS.

Canada Post is notoriously lax about collecting the taxes, duty and their own service fee, but those costs are still supposed to be charged and collected.
Whenever you import something valued over $20, expect to pay those charges. You probably won't be, but be prepared. You are more likely to be charged if the item is expensive or bulky.
There is not yet enough information available about GPS fees to be sure, but they start around $4.95, compared to $9.95 for Canada Post and $25.00 for UPS and other couriers. Time will tell.

Canada Post does charge duty. However, many items that are purchased through eBay are made in NAFTA or other free trade countries and no duty applies.

It was shipped on Oct.18th.
It arrived today, Oct .21st.
Nothing extra to pay over & above the buyer's price & the Buyer's shipping cost.








Bought an item from the US .
Shipped on Oct.14th from Pennsylvania, a distance of 521miles

When I order from China companies it is usually free delivery. There are no duty charges. The packages take an average of 11 days to reach me in Canada. Five of those days are Canada Post delivery days from BC to Ontario.
When I order from the USA the delivery takes to or three weeks, sometimes more. I expect that the Global shipping program will only add to that time because the package has to be shipped to them so they can ship it to you.
GET THIS! My current order was from a seller in Maine. He says it shipped on Dec 3. On Dec 6 the package is in Kentucky!!! I am in Canada. In those three days UPS would have it at my door. I will NEVER order from a seller using GSP.
