Is PayPal down ?
I sold something privately and it took forever to get notification of payment and when did, notification not the same format as usually get for eBay items or other private sales done in the past, but looked like had got similar in the past, for just sent money, (Didn't include buyers shipping address, but correct name and email address as well as my correct name format )

address looks right and no oddities with that...(in the past seen the right name, but a different email in the bracketed part for likely scam emails)
But Can't get into or open paypal .com or ca, from any links on eBay or on the web...to see if the payment is in my account, keeps timing out or producing error messages, on both my laptop and a mobile device, I even tried different browsers, restarting my computer..
Just checked and I was able to signin to www.paypal.com without problems.
There may be temporary problems since today is the Black Friday sale day with lots of transactions.
Hi @vetteuser! I bought a bunch of things today (yay Black Friday!), and had my notifications of payment take a long time to come through, but it did catch up eventually.
If I had to wager a guess I would think that it's been a busy day for PayPal and some traffic is getting bogged down.
If you still find that things aren't coming through after you've given it some time you can always contact them (like @momcqueen mentioned I prefer Twitter to contact them) and they can have a look for you!
Before going to the coffee shop, I screwed around trying to figure out emptying caches and restarting various browsers and the computer, and only got the email notification of payment I was looking for direct in PayPal.
Since then, PayPal is slow to load.... and I noticed different format pages so figure that might also have something to do with it.... requiring more bandwidth than my computer and wireless ISP can keep up with... because was fast at the coffee shop..
Did it work after time passed?
Paypal has been a little flakey lately. I had a question about my first-ever chargeback earlier this week and I waited on hold for two hours without reaching an agent.
I called back the next night and was connected within ten minutes.
For future reference (because it may not be applicable in this case) Tyler from ebay says Paypal is quick to respond to tweets. If you're on Twitter, this might work for you. I'm not but I'm beginning to see that I probably should be because news hits there first and I could be watching what ebay Canada is saying and doing around the postal strikes because I had wondered last week without knowing. It was on Twitter.
I sell on my own using Paypal and normally I get notice of payment to the email I use as my PP ID.
I have PP set up as a bookmark however, and don't usually go from the email to PP.
You can Google Paypal and log into it from there.
Payment for those private sales always includes the buyer's address.
Hmmm- unless.
Does the payment in PP show as Payment Type: Goods and Services?
Because Friends and Family doesn't always have that since it's used more for sending gift money (like Chanukkah Gelt) or a share of a family purchase (going in on sending Mum and Dad to Mexico for two weeks).
