I issued a full refund to a buyer who demanded one prior to returning the item. Will I get a credit back from Ebay?

This buyer claims the item inside the sealed box is not what he bought and if I didn't refund his money immediately he would leave me "very negative feedback" and report me to Ebay. I refunded the money because I didn't want any hassles. Will I qualify for a refund/credit of the Ebay fees I paid for the transaction?

Thanks,

Paula

You were successfully bullied by a crook.

There was probably nothing wrong with the item you sent him and you will never see it or the money again.

I hope the item was cheap, which would make this just a learning experience and not a money pit.

Yes. Blocked Bidder List.

Yes, Report extortion to eBay.

If the bidder leaves negative feedback (or any feedback) you can add a Response to it. The most effective feedback is calm and factual, but is not required to be positive.

The normal practice when a buyer complains is to tell her to return the item for a "full refund". The buyer then returns the item, and if he is wise he uses Delivery Confirmation, although this makes the return more expensive than the original shipment in many cases.

That requirement also discourages returns for petty reasons.

When the seller receives the item back, and has inspected it, the original payment is refunded. If there is a problem that is the seller's responsibility *, then the Best Practice is to also return the return shipping.

Sorry for your loss.
