Shipping cost increase?

I just got an order and was about to go and get a label. But **bleep**, they changed the rate! Little info on the package, it's 230 grams, 14x11x9 and they want $18 CAD! Normally it's $12 CAD. I checked to confirm with a recent order and I can confirm a package heavier and bigger i paid was $13 1KG 25x20x20.

Fyi i use shippo but i checked with ebay and Canada post, the rate is the same more or less!

I am real loss for words.

The shipping rates haven't gone up since January.  Where was the package going and where did the other one go?  Which service were you using?
 I don't think I could send a 1 lb package anywhere for $13 ......perhaps in the same city?

If you are talking about Expedited/Regular parcel in Canada, the cost is variable and several things come into play:

* destination, distance matters

* destination, rural costs more than urban and remote (communities that usually need air transport for delivery) cost even more than the rest

* start of every month the fuel surcharge changes (this year rates have risen back to pre-covid levels).

* sales tax on shipping is based on rate in destination province for expedited parcel (5-15% range)

Be sure to use metric measurements.

Canada Post went metric in 1974 and anything else will be GIGO as we used to say in the 20th century.
