You are paying fees (usually 13.5%) on the purchase price PLUS the shipping fee* PLUS the buyer's import fees including sales taxes /VAT plus any promotional fees** you may have opted into.

The customer's ENTIRE payment.

So a sale of $100 plus import fees of 15% ($15)plus shipping of $15 makes a total payment of $130 and your 13.5% fee is calculated on that.

Fees of $17.55 while if it were only on the $100 purchase it would be $13.50.

*for international sales, the fee is calculated on the first domestic shipping price

** if you opted VOLUNTARILY to pay a Promoted Listed premium at even the 2% mimimum, your fees would be not 13.5% but 15.5% on the ENTIRE payment or $20.15

Fees are what they are...eBay provides the fee structure so any seller has that knowledge BEFORE listing any items. eBay is no different than any other large global selling site >there are fees...so if you wanna play in eBay's sandbox, you gotta pay!
