You didn't have to End the item, you just had to go to the Revise Listing button.
It usually takes a few hours (up to 24 actually) for your new listings to go live.
The cancelled listing is now in your Unsold List. Use Relist or Sell Similar to reopen it and to change it. There is an Edit option at the tail end of the listing form.
