after 2 months buyer requesting a refund,

I have a question regarding a recent sale. I sold an item in mid-March, and over two months later, the buyer claimed they never received it and is now requesting a refund. However, eBay’s policy allows buyers only 30 days to report that an item was not received.

The item was returned to me after being held by UPS for a month. I believe this occurred because the buyer either did not pay the required customs fees or failed to provide the necessary documentation after the purchase, resulting in the return.

Given these circumstances, what is the appropriate course of action regarding the buyer’s refund request?

After that much time has passed buyer doesn't have buyer protection. I believe not paying import also voids buyer protection. The buyer wouldn't usually be entitled to a refund.

However, if I got the item back I'm refunding cause it's the right thing to do. You should not get the money and the item. If you lost money from shipping, I think you can deduct it from the refund.
