They have had different types of promotions over the years and in my experience, I haven't notice a decline of sales when new ways to promote come out. I do use the promoted listings standard on some of my listings as it can be relatively inexpensive. It does seem to help with sales.
The promoted listings express is the newest promotion. I've read about a few people using it but most of those people are using it on listings with multiples, not on one of a kind collectibles. I have seen a few posts on the US board about slow sales from those who sell collectibles (and other items) so perhaps there is just a lull right now in those categories?
In the mean time you might want to make a change or two. Shipping here is super expensive so you might want to change the order of your shipping options. Right now buyers will see only the xpresspost option on many of your listings when they are looking at them on the search page. Xpresspost is probably the method that you have listed first on the sell your item form so that is what is shown to the buyer unless they actually go into the listing and then click on she shipping/payments tab. It's possible that someone may not look at your listing at all if they think that the shipping is too high.
In some of your listings you also have xpresspost as the first option for the US. They are even more conscious of shipping costs than we are so you might want to look at changing the shipping set up on those listings as well.
I do not use PromotedListings and just returned to selling on eBay a few months ago after a 6+month absence and I have not noticed any change in selling patterns...
Yet it probably is.
January is a slow month for sales in most categories.
You can't see it yet, but if you are keeping records you should see a rise and fall in sales from month to month (and even more from week to week , but those are too small to track usefully).
The paid Promoted Listings have been around for some two years. I did my first Promoted campaign in November of 2020, and that was late.
This was the original version where we chose our fee (I went with one percent) and only paid if that item sold.
The new version has not been popular with small sellers, since it is much more expensive and does not increase our profits.
Wrong!...no seller is required to use Promoted Listings...and sellers are not penalized for not using them!...
Successful online selling is all about the product> quality, uniqueness, supply & demand, target market ,etc.
Low sales/no sales >sellers have been blaming anything & everything on that topic as long as I have been an online seller(18+ yrs)
I am afraid e-bay is a dieing platform with taxes and
