I find the Bell notification system to be a real pain. How do I "turn it off"?

I find the Bell notification system to be a real pain.  How do I "turn it off"?

It returns the same information time and time again.  I use the system to tell it that I don't want the notifications left on yet still the same notifications are repeated.

Sometimes there are 30 notifications under the bell, most of which have appeared more than once earlier.

I know, I agree completely. There is no setting that I can find that allows management of it. The only one under Account Settings is for email notifications. I don't need the bell or anything it shows me. It needs to go bye-bye. Perhaps if enough people complain about this, it will be fixed. I find it very frustrating the way it seems like the things I need and use are disappearing 'Print' on the item page and Store Categories in the Listing Frame being two very recent but the ones I need like a hole in the head (meaning not at all) are popping up. Like this dumbBELL.

It's even telling me to bid on items I won days ago.
