Why does the listing show "free shipping" yet when I process the transaction - I am charged nearly $8 for s/h?

This is what I see on my list of purchases "free shipping" but not on the following screens as I process my paypal payment.

I also cannot find an override button.

I would suggest it is an eBay "bug" rather than a problem with the seller. But I can;t find a way to send them the details.

I see one recent purchase and shipping is indicated @ $7.45.

In order not to be surprised like this about shipping costs it is essential that you read the entire listing, including the entire shipping details section. If you are looking on eBay.com it is even more important that you check if the seller will ship outside the US, many don't and run into problems as a result. The fact that you received an invoice show that your seller is willing to ship to Canada, but at a substantially higher cost. If this international shipping rate was mentioned in the listing, then under eBay rules, you agreed to it when you bought the item.

Contact seller by asking for a revised invoice,

if S&H charges are still there, then as already posted previous, you have agreed to the auction terms as soon as you hit BID (or BIN).

Read all auctions carefully, and don't be afraid to ask the seller what their shipping charges are, in some cases, you may be pleasently surprised by a reduction in the posted shipping price.

Good luck. Happy (bargain) hunting.

Hello 'bull138',

I am guessing you bought something internationally, - the US perhaps?  Many Americans offer 'free shipping' within their own country as the mailing cost is not excessive.  International orders cost more and hence have a shipping fee with them.  What did the listing say under the Shipping and Payments section?  Did it claim to offer it free to Canada?

Some listings do not cite a specific international fee so you have to ask before buying.  It sounds like yours said 8 bucks.  Whatever it said in the listing at the time you bought is what you pay.

Sometimes when viewing your Purchase History items the 'free shipping' will be there, but if you click on the listing it clearly shows the shipping cost to Canada.  It might seem like the system is playing a rotten little trick on you, - but the shipping fee in the listing is what you pay, unless you have arrived at other arrangements with the seller, whereby he sends you a corrected invoice.

Enjoy your new item. 🙂
