is ebay just for buyers who look for items for free or close to free and no shipping costs and why are we now going to have our items also listed on kijiji our the glory days of ebay.com or .ebay.ca gone

EBay owns both sites but makes money on eBay, the other is just a free site and paid for by all the advertising. It is not surprising that eBay would want to direct as much traffic to the paid site (eBay) as possible and this is one easy way to do it. When a buyer clicks a listing on that other site, it will direct them to the eBay listing. I think the bargain hunters will be far more annoyed by that than any eBay seller. People using the other site do so because the don't want to pay $38 in shipping for a wristwatch.
