You pay the same sales taxes online that you would in a shop.

If you import from the USA* you will also pay sales taxes on imports over $40 and duty on imports over $150.

If you import from other countries, you can expect to pay tax and duty on imports over $20, if the item comes by courier. This is less likely if the item comes by mail.

@brettjet38 When I put a gold coin in my cart that is listed in the Bullion section by a Canadian seller, I am still charged tax so that does not appear to have been fixed.

eBay (not the sellers) charges Canadian buyers taxes on sales from Canadian sellers.

Sales from non-Canadian sellers over certain dollar amounts are subject to taxes as well and are sometimes mischaracterized as “import duties” as those are collected by Canada Border Services or agencies authorized to do so.
