eBay is no longer a safe environment for shoppers
eBay IMO has become anti-shopper and scam and fraud friendly
Well, it's up to you to verify what, where, and from whom you make that "Deal" and that the links are legit.
I never had any issues, why?
Because, I read and understand the internet of scams and never click on random links in any message, period!
I no longer feel safe as a seller as eBay provides zero protection against fradulent buyers.
I have no concerns buying on eBay - so long as I avoid eBay's international shipping system.
EBay has a Money Back Guarantee good for 30 days from delivery.
PP has a Buyer Protection program good for 180 days from payment.
Your credit card has a chargeback program for unsatisfactory transactions.
Which of these solutions failed you?

there are millions of users on eBay and no one, not even eBay can make everyone happy...
