Shipping cost higher then calculator

I sold an item and it calculated to cost to NU as about $19, so it was added to the price the buyer paid, when I went to ship the item I was told it was national and the shipping was $26.

You may want to review the eBay selling practices policy. The section which covers your question is the terms and conditions section. It states, among other things, that you cannot state in your listing that you charge one price for shipping but state after the listing ends that you charge another price.

Oh, I meant to add, -- if you try to invoice your buyer for more money you will be in violation of ebay policy.  You can't charge more than what you say in the listing.  Get a metric scale and tape measure if you haven't already got one.

That's Nunavut, - it is national.  Why, what did you think?

When you calculated, - did you use metric measures?

If your buyer saw $19 in the listing, that is all you can charge for this item.  You can ask for the difference, and the buyer might feel obligated to pay, but come feedback time you might 'pay' in the end.  You are a new seller with a very low feedback.  I'd suggest you simply send it for the amount you stated in the listing, not bother the buyer about wanting more money (buyers really hate that), and learn from your mistake.

And you knew about the 21-day hold which paypal places on funds to new sellers, yes?

If you use Calculated Shipping (and add a handling charge, bubblewrap ain't free), the measurements you enter will set the price of shipping for your customer. And your Paypal shipping label will also base itself on those measurements.

But yes, use metric.

Hmmm- did you remember to add a little for the packaging?

I never stated anything different in my ad, nor asked the buyer for more money... I was mearly curious as this has never been an issue for anything I have sold on ebay and had never heard of it happening, I have read all the policies before this.  Im not sure how I made a 'mistake' as I had the parcel weighed and measured before posting.  I was just wondering if this was common or if there was an error based on where it was shipped.
