Does eBay support scammers?

I always thought eBay was Ok until I got scammed and found out that eBay does not support you as a Seller. But rather the Buyer gets every break. They can buy stuff, get refunds based on BS, get you to pay for shipping both to and from the Buyer (for the Refund). And after all that, the Buyer can send back whatever they want from a empty box to something completely different from what you sent them. And keep your product.

And if the Seller complains at all, they get in trouble.

This means a Buyer can buy anything on eBay, get refunded and get the item for free.

Of course, this is due to eBay's competition with Amazon who offers free returns. And this is good if you sell batteries or office supplies but much of eBay's business is selling Collectors items and antiques. This business is not the same.

This has led to eBay Sellers are now opening their own Web Stores or selling on specialty sites or Facebook.

Is this what is going on?

It is important for anyone selling online to know the Buyer Protections offered by the site, because few offer much in the way of Seller Protection.

EBay has a Money Back Guarantee.

Money back. Don't expect the buyer or eBay to honour an offer of Replacement. KISS.

Sellers are allowed to have a No Returns policy, but not a No Refunds policy.

Even with a No Returns policy, the seller can stil demand the return of the disputed item before refunding.

Usually, but not always, the seller pays for return shipping.

Usually the buyer really is unhappy and will return the purchase. Scammers won't and are not refunded.

A seller who does not cooperate with a Claim will be refunding anyway and will also earn a Defect.

Defects can lead to higher fees, restrictions on the number and value of listings, or even closed selling accounts.

There is a system.

It does favour the Buyer.

Sellers should be aware of both their rights and their responsibilities.

Ebay will not support you as a seller. Luckily I have only been burned only about 3 times in 20+ years selling on Ebay, Marketplace, and others. Small time losses, but losses none the less. If I count it against what I have made, it does not come close to reaping in profits on **bleep** I got for virtually free that I resold on Ebay in auction form for great money over the years. Getting burned once in a while is the nature of doing business online, but the profits still out do the amount of losses in scams. You have to be able to afford the loss of the item when selling on Ebay, if you can't you maybe should not sell it through the mail. For the most part, 98% percent of the people who buy on Ebay are honest, but there will always be a few who choose otherwise.

Scammers are everywhere...eBay,Etsy,Amazon,Craigslist,Facebook Marketplace,etc,etc,etc...and yes indeed scammers of both selling and buying abound on Facebook Marketplace!

This is what has become of today's society-it's all about who can get whatever they want "free" and without consequence...There is NO safe place; NO safe site> NOT even a seller's own website!
