Shipping 3 DVD's from the U.S. to Italy. While buying a postage label from the Paypal Shipstation I am asked for an HS code.

Please let me know what code should I use.

Although 8523 is valid in terms of the general HS Code category, on Customs forms I prefer using the more specific 6-letter code:

Just taking no chances in case a country has specific tariffs, duties, or taxes distinguishing  'Unrecorded' Optical Media (8523.41) from 'Other' Optical Media (8523.49), or even 'Other/Discs for laser reading systems'  (8523.49.10).

For most destinations, these are probably distinctions without a difference. But we are talking about the EU here...

I record my most-used HS codes in the back of my accounts book. Much faster than googling.

The harmonized codes are universal-- so the number given is correct

I think you should ask on the US forum, this is the Canadian board and I don't know if it may be a little different different here.

I think the code is 8523 for DVD's but that is when I look at the Canada Post web site, I think US may require more info (longer HS numbers) better to check there.

Just go on Google and enter  HS code   DVD
