How Do I Fix Overdue Shipment?

This may seem silly. Someone else has asked this question last year on eBay.com and no one answered that seller. I'm hoping I can find a solution here.

For months I've been trying to find where to adjust the time zone for my account. I'm in Pacific Standard Time but when I mark any item as shipped past 9pm, eBay shows it as next day.

Tonight I arrived home and fell asleep in front of my computer. I woke up past 9pm for eBay to acknowledge one of my shipments is late by 1 day.

My handling time is 3 days.

All of my parcels are shipped on Day 2 of the handling time.... No possibiity of a defect.

For parcels with tracking   the date the parcel was delivered to the post office is indicated on the tracking record.

For parcels without tracking... such as lettermail....  the parcel must be mailed within the handling time.... 3 days for me

Our biggest problem is how the date of delivery is noted in relation to a handling time...

Tracking on eBay can be wrong.....  I once had one book indicated as delivered to the post office on December 17....  a second book was delivered to the post office on December 18.

Sounds OK... BUT...  the two books were in the same parcel!!!

Once a parcel is delivered to the post office  it is the reponsibility of Canada Post to deliver the parcel on time.....  and the delivery date should not be used to penalize a seller.

Canada Post has delivery dates ...  eBay might adjust those dates if  eBay feels it is important to make this adjustment  based on experience and knowledge.

eBay's reporting of delivery dates  must be questioned...

WHY?    All we have to do is compare eBay reporting of tracking to tracking reported on the Canada Post website....  eBay tracking reports can be a mess.

For parcels without tracking,  the most important date is the date the parcel was delivered to Canada Post.  Canada Post delivers the parcel to the buyer....The seller should not be penalized if Canada Post does something wrong with respect the expected delivery date....

I once had an eBay Customer Service person say they only use the tracking report presented on the Canada Post website....

Yes there is. In future when orders are received check the ship by date and time supplied in Seller Hub > Orders > Awaiting Payment. The time of day deadline that appears there should be consistent. In part, ebay uses the seller's "ship from" address to determine ship by date and time. A seller's ship from address can be edited if the need arises in My eBay, account, personal info. It's worth noting that eBay Canada runs on Toronto head office time, eBay US runs on San Francisco time.

Despite what other posters have said, there is no way to change that function.  Ebay.ca uses EST for all sales and for shipping times.  If a listing is on .com, then PST is used.

Are these tracked or non tracked packages?  If you are using tracking then in order not to be late the item has to be scanned by the post office before midnight est on the business day that you indicate that you ship OR scanned as delivered before the estimated delivery time.

If you are not using tracking and it appears that you don't use it in most cases, then you don't get an official 'late shipment' ding unless the buyer states that the item was late when  ebay asks them during the feedback process.  When you mark an item as shipped really doesn't affect your late shipment metrics if you don't have tracking.   Did you actually see that you had a 'late' ding after you marked your item as shipped  or is just marked as being late before you mark it as shipped?

Going forward from your ID at top left go to seller settings>>>Shipping Preferences  and adjust time accordingly. When I checked my settings it was defaulted to Toronto Time. Appears now the only available option is America/Montreal.  You may need to play around with a time to find a time that will work best for you. Something you may want to confirm if there is alternative method with Tyler next Tues/Wed.
