Vintage Golliwog Doll

Is it a no-no to list a vintage golliwog cloth doll on eBay because it appears none are listed.  Thank you.

It's not forbidden, but I don't think the term was ever much used in the USA. Canada with closer ties to Britain is more familiar with it.

There are a few dolls I would describe as 'gollywog' here;

but the eBay term seems to be 'minstrel'.

Yes, some of the dolls (the link you sent) could be called golliwogs. I don't want to take a chance & get into trouble w eBay. Maybe my attempted listing is now flagged, so even if I call the doll a 'minstrel' I may not get away with it. (Read my reply to pinetreecottage.)

Sign in to ebayUk.com.  There are Gollywogs listed.  You can sell from there.  He was an advertising promo from Riobertsons jam, an English product.

Read up on Golliwogs*: initially created as a fictional character in hugely popular children's books. Robertson jams adopted "Golly" as their mascot in 1910 but ceased to use it in the late-1980s, partly bec some viewed it offensive. I tried listing my vintage doll under 'Collectibles/Advertising' and used "Golly" & "Robertson jams" in the heading. Also related what I just told you above in the Description. YET, eBay disallowed me to list anything related to "Golliwogs"! So there....
*It appears there is just as much backlash in Britain. Thxs again.
