buyer wants me to ship to the USA, but his listed address is Brazil. How do I go about this?

Hello,

I am a first time seller, and I am very anxious about getting scammed as the item I am selling is in the $300-400 dollar range.

I originally had my shipping set to Canada only (I am from Canada). An ebayer bid on my item, and sent me a messaging asking if I can ship to the USA. He ended up winning, but when I go to send an invoice, it shows his listed address as Brazil.

I've heard about a scam where if the listed address doesn't match the sent address, they can cancel on paypal and you get nothing. Is there any way I can go about this where I would be protected from being scammed? Is there some way I can change the invoice address, so that paypal, the seller, and I are all on the same page?

Thank you!

By the way, in case it isn't obvious, the point is to make the buyer ask that the transaction be cancelled.

However, given the messing about with destinations, I would not offer this guy a Mutual Cancellation. Either leave it alone for 45 days until the deadline for Disputes passes or open an Unpaid Item Dispute for the full amount including your firm shipping quote to Brazil.

Send the bidder a polite email giving the cost of shipping to Brazil. Do NOT accept any other amount.

While you should remain reasonable in your shipping charges, make sure the service you choose is Signature Confirmed and Air Mail.

You might even consider using UPS or another courier to deliver.

Make sure that the courier will insure the shipment against loss or damage in transit to Brazil. Inform your buyer that the shipping cost does not include Brazilian duty or sales taxes nor does it include any customs brokerage charge from the courier.

Then go to Google Translate and get your (polite!) message in Portugese.

Send both English and Portugese messages to the buyer through eBay Messages.

Remember that if you only put Canada in your Shipping tab, that you are not required to ship elsewhere. You can Report the buyer as an Unwanted Buyer.
