eBay's Seller Protections: Promises vs. Practice After the Canada Post Strike

I’m seeking feedback on a frustrating issue with eBay's seller protections. On December 10, 2024, eBay announced special measures to shield sellers from negative impacts caused by the Canada Post strike, including protection from late shipment defects, feedback, and certain claims. Despite these assurances, my experience shows these measures are inconsistently applied.

For example:

  • A neutral feedback left on an item delayed by the strike wasn’t removed, even though tracking was uploaded as required.
  • A refund was issued to a buyer despite evidence that delays were due to the disruption.

It seems eBay agents are either unaware of these announced protections or unable to enforce them, leaving sellers like me unprotected despite following the outlined guidelines.

Have others faced this? How can we ensure eBay delivers on its promises?

Looking forward to your thoughts.

Since those actions are automated, the problem will persist, I fear.

The phone reps have a terrible reputation for getting you off the phone as soon as possible even if that means giving you the advice you want to hear instead of the advice you need to have.
