When we ship without tracking we are gambling that the item will arrive promptly and securely at a low price.
This is a pretty good bet because the postal system is good at what it does.
The gamble is that if the buyer makes a Claim that the shipment did not arrive, we cannot prove any different without having used expensive tracking.
Which means we lose our bet, and must refund the buyer.
Whether the delivery is lost or late. Whether the buyer is honestly disappointed or lying.
We choose the $1.75 envelope over the $6.55 Tracked Parcel.
And we make up the occasional loss to delay or dishonesty on the difference of $4.80.
