Cap on Internet Usage...

I heard on the radio last week and read an article in tonight's newspaper about the CRTC ruling to allow a cap on internet usage. I am technically challenged when it comes to gigabytes, etc. Could someone please enlighten me on what exactly this will mean to people like us who spend a great deal of time online running a business? Here is a link to the article in our local newspaper.

Thanks.

Cap on Internet Usage...

Nothing to worry about.

The CRTC decision has been shelved for now.

For once, the elected government did something good to protect the citizens from beaurocracy running wild and bowing to the corporate giants.

Cap on Internet Usage...

Or perhaps executive branch of government once again stepped over their authority? (google-up "Harper vs. parliament" 😮

This Usage Based Billing is quite controversial. The more information I get about it, the more I feel it's a good thing.

Cap on Internet Usage...

It is not so much with respect to regular usage.

More to do with downloads... long downloads that tie up the internet.

Nowadays you can download a movie if you want to view it.

Computers are now fast enough that you can watch TV on the computer... takes up a lot of bandwidth...

When we sell on eBay the actual time we communicate with eBay, or with our buyers is quite low

Nothing like that download or any other lengthy communication using a lot of internet time...

But then there is a lot of "behind the scenes" communication going on with each computer on the system... programs with regular updates... cookies tracking

There is more going on than what we see.
