For real or not for real...that is the question!!??

I am sorry for the inconvience, it took me a week to get paypals mailing address and when I went to buy the money order I was beaten and robbed. I just got out of the hospital. I get a disability check only once a month. I really want this item, and if possible would still like to get it. But since they took everything, I can not send you a money order until the 3rd of March. I know it is a long time, and if you can not do it, then I will understand. Please let me know and thank you.

Auction # 120214644284

This auction ended Jan. 30. The buyer sent an email Jan. 31 asking for my address to send a money order. I sent it to her immediately.

Why would she need PayPal's address to send a money order? Is this just another one of those "I was in the hospital" excuses because she hasn't gotten around to sending payment? Should I add it to the "weirdest buyers" thread?

Or should I give her the benefit of the doubt and wait for payment? I am not sure how to proceed with this one. Any suggestions?

It's a tall one fer sure...:^O

Any item that I have lots of (and always keep in stock) I generally give the buyer some space.

Often, they are ashamed to admit they are broke at the moment and they go through life this way (excuses for late payment).

With one exception, all of my buyers came through with payment later.

So, if you have lots of those and the price is high enough for you, there is no real downside in waiting - only an upside. If it's a unique item, your call.

You can always file an UID in March if the buyer does not pay. In situations where the buyer has at least communicated (no matter how incredible the excuse) I generally don't leave negs. I reserve that for no pay, no communication, no contest to UID.

And, yes, add it to the "weirdest" category...

I do have more of them so that part doesn't concern me. I don't really have much alternative except to wait or file a dispute. As far fetched as her story seems I still like to give a buyer the benefit of the doubt.

I don't usually leave neg's either if they respond to a dispute...mostly because they could neg me back. If they don't respond, I do leave a negative to let other sellers know my experience with them. Not after next week though.

And you are right....It is difficult for people to admit they can't afford something. It's easier on the ego to make up a story citing some other reason for slow payment. Human nature.

Thanks for the input. (It must be my week!!)
