Going on hold - what will happen to PS status?

Hi everyone!

I am putting my ebay store on hold for a few months for a couple reasons but with my daughter 6 months old now I want to spend a bit of ebay-free time before I have to "go back to work".

What will happen to my powerseller status? Will I be banned from the forums and lose my icon etc. if I am not selling for a few months?

Thanks!

Contact Powerseller support and they will give you a mulligan.

With the (not so) new powerseller qualifications it's not much of a problem anymore, concessions were made for seasonal sellers.

Hi Justine,

I've been on hold since July 1st. I notified Power Sellers by phone and in writing and there's been no problem.

Take the time with your baby! Your daughter is most important!

Enjoy!

Going on hold - what will happen to PS status?

Wow Susan, my experience was completely the opposite. I was doing some renovations in my home over the summer & called the powersellers phone line + also emailed to ask them to "hold" my status for a few months... both replies confirmed they don't do that & I would have to maintain the minimum $3,000/month or they would remove my status. I figured I probalby would be able to maintain that minimum over the summer so no big deal, but ended up falling just shy at $2,897.43... you can imagine my frustration when they removed my status (very quickly I might add) for being a measly $102.57 short. The following month I was back "in" again (although I did have to specifically email them requesting they "invite" me again). A bit frustrating, certainly didn't make me feel highly valued, but at least I'm back on the program now.

By the way, congratulations to both of you for taking some time off to be with your families!

Hi Jason,

I have to wonder if it depends on the rep you talk with. It seems that the answers for the same questions are never the same. Most certainly I can appreciate your frustration.

I'm still not back up and running as I'm redoing listings that I redid and then still have another 2000+ to redo for the first time!

And, in November/December....I'm taking another month off to spend in Ottawa as our oldest daughter and her husband are having their second baby...and they found out today it's another girl!

Life is just to short. My family is most important to me and if we need to tighten the belt, we do. I don't want to miss out on holding our second grandbaby when she enters the world!

eBay will still be here!

Best wishes with your sales, Jason!

Susan, you're doing enough volume to qualify for the annual requirements instead of the monthly ones. Not sure if the OP is in that situation.

Hi recped. Yeah, that makes sense, I was at around $9,000 in annual sales this year to date (down quite a bit from last year), although it was still frustrating being sooo close to the monthly requirement & them not caring. I should be up to the annual minimum shortly again, so that will probably help if I have to take a break in the future... thanks for pointing that out!

Hi recped,

Ah, didn't think about that!

Okay...back to relisting again today. Actually, I don't mind creating listings...but I do dislike doing the same ones over and over and over again! You know it's bad when you have NIGHT MARES about quantity/stock numbers/names, etc!

Have a wonderful day recped and Jason!

Hi again,
So it seems I had the same reply as Jason.

They literally just got back to me after weeks. They said they "have to draw the line somewhere".

Does anyone remember about that grandfathering system or something like that? Its when a powerseller doesn't meet the requirements but they let them keep their status? I remember reading that but cant find it anywhere.

Thanks!
Justine
P.S. my yearly sales won't be high yet because I only sold between March 31st and put it on hold August 31st so it was around $4045.00

Hey Justin. Yes, the "have to draw the line somewhere" is an exact quote from my response, sounds like they have a cut & paste reply option to use here! 🙂

I think the bottom line is that it sounds like they don't "grandfather" a powerseller status, unless they have met the annual sales minimums... just enjoy your time off with your family & worry about ebay once you're back into the swing of things!

Hey Jason,

I am definitely enjoying the time off but wrote back a nasty email asking for a manager. I got a response this morning saying they will keep my status through Jan so I won't be reviewed until February. Not bad I guess!

Going on hold - what will happen to PS status?

I went on hold for 2 months this summer because I got married and wanted a clean and clear break. It was wonderful and I plan on doing it again next summer!

Anyhow, I didn't lose my PS status. I sell way above the yearly minimums. What was troubling though was how it affected my 5 star seller ratings. For example, in August I did not get the discount despite having 5.0 5.0 5.0 and 4.9. I still don't know why. I contacted eBay and they have not gotten back to me yet.

Even more troubling though is that I only have 2 feedbacks for the past 30 days and someone or both dinged me on the shipping. I don't know by how much because it will not give me a rating. It just shows an X under shipping for any of the discounts. I am really at my wits loss about this. I have an extremely reasonable handling fee. I never charge more than $1 and in most cases only charge about 65-75 cents. I package really well and source my supplies at a very good discount and each order costs me about $1.15 extra so I am absorbing part of the cost and am still getting dinged (even though I go to great lengths to tell the buyers that I do not charge more than my actual costs). Anyhow back to the question at hand, is that the lower amount of feedbacks received during your away period put you at risk for lower 5 star rating averages. I personally can live with that if it's going to take away my discount but starting in November those of us that sell on .com are at risk to losing selling priveledges if all 4 feedback ratings are not over 4.3.
