I did not get an item I paid for before Xmas.

I contacted the seller and accepted that item may have been lost in Xmas mail. Seller said he will send item  again. I still haven't received the item from China- and were in April. I don't know if the buyer protection could compensate. And I can find the way to open a cse since the item number is no longer available. What can I do to get satisfaction?

You only have 45 days in which to open a dispute through either eBay or paypal.

If you funded the transaction by credit card telephone the customer service number on the back of your card and ask to do a charge back.

The offer of a replacement seems to be a new scam from sketchey sellers, mostly Chinese but it will spread.

Since the original item did not arrive within 45 days, why would the replacement arrive on time?

Frankly, since the international postal system is very reliable, I doubt anything was sent in the first place.

In future, if offered a replacement, ask for a full refund instead. Then, if you still trust the seller, re-order the item and hope that it will arrive within deadline.
