LISTING QUESTION...

when you list an item available only to the united states/canada, i guess anyone else from other countries are still free to bid? i kind of thought the system would notify these people when trying to bid that they can't bid because seller isn't making available to them. i have large pieces that i only make available to the states/canada since they would cost lots of money overseas (and i mean lots-thousands)...yet i get questions about shipping from overseas and people actually bidding. is there a way to create your listing where you can create some sort of block based on country?

You can prevent people from other countries from bidding but not from asking if they can bid. Set up your buyer preferences to block bids from countries to which you do not ship.

..but you can't do it specific to listings...just a general block on your listings right? there's some that i ship worldwide, some i don't, that's the problem...

Yes, it is specific to listings. If the particular listing says worldwide, buyers worldwide will be allowed to bid. I have some listings that I ship to the USA only and some to the USA and Canada. The block I have set up works perfectly.

got it..thanks! i had always zoomed down that area and never stopped to see those buyer requirements right in each listing, i knew they existed in general preferences though...can't change now, but will remember for next time...thank you 🙂

you know what...you're a very helpful person...have done it..however if someone has already bid, the bids remain unaffected, but i'm sure you knew that...maybe i should buy your book!! 😄

Existing bids are unaffected but future bidders from countries to which you do not ship any particular item will receive a message that the item is unavailable to them and that they should contact you if there are questions.

Maybe you should buy both.

Yes they are available in bookstores although they are cheaper and signed on eBay. See item #250195059978 for an example.
