I cant recall if this was in a thread or not. I dont sell the same volume as most of you so maybe someone who deals with this on a regular and frequent basis can help me with this.

I sold a set of drums Friday. I get an email tonight with the guy telling me he cant afford them and he knows that he deserves me to give him negative feedback.

In a brief email back I tell him the negative does not get back my fees that I am out listing fees, commissions and the profit from the other 3 people bidding on the drums and wanting them for Christmas.

Do I have to go the 7 day NPB alert email before I can complete my filing for final value fees.

I mean this really sucks and should be something that eBay fixes up. Like what is there to work out when the buyer emails you and says its either thr drums or his rent and tells me to neg him. What does eBay think I can do to persuade him to buy the drums now?

Maybe I should send over Bruno and Luigi to talk some sense into him? Or maybe I can lend him $500 to buy my drums. Maybe I should give him the drums in loan because he may win the lottery and he can pay me then.

If eBay's policy is to have us go through the entire procedure then they are really off the wall in understanding their sellers.

Do they not think that we would sooner make the sale than get our fees back? And how much effort can you make to convince someone to proceed with a purchase when they are 4,000 miles away on a different country, different time zone and dont give a damn.

I can understand that I may make a little more effort in trying to persuade someone over a $500 set of drums but how much effort should be wasted to make a $2 sale?

(This feels good, I havent had a good rant in a while).

And the way I read it is that I cant even begin the darn process for 7 days after the end of the auction. Then I have to wait another 10 days after that?

This is childish and inefficient.

Poor Malcolm :(((( I was always under the impression that as long as you didn't have to file an NPB (i.e. agreed cancellaton of transaction) you could go directly to filing for fees. I can't be sure, but that certainly makes sense to me.

Sorry to hear that, Malcolm 😞

Malcolm, I've had a couple of those and that's the way I saw it too! It's just one more instance of ebay's policy of catering to the buyer at the expense of the seller. There should certainly be a way to bypass the delays when it's a matter of buyer & seller agreement, but I couldn't find it! I have one right now (only my 3rd in over a year of selling so I can't complain) that I can file FVFC Christmas Day. We're not visiting our family until Boxing Day weekend, so I JUST MIGHT DO THAT!!! You can hand out the Scrooge badge anytime! LOL

Good luck, and keep us posted.

Actually I know the answer. The answer is some sellers will forget to go through all the procedures and get their fees back. I know I have lost a couple like that.

Jackie, remember you bad luck in threes?

Well I got this SOB backing out on the drums and now a () rated bum negs me complaining he hasnt heard from me since the auction ended Thursday night.

The dirth little^((^(^*&%^ has blocked my emails. I emailed him 3 times Thursday and my final email went through. The next I hear I get a brand new neg.

I email him tonight from one server and it is returned saying 'blocked by recipient" but I assume my other one got through.

This is what takes the joy out of eBay. If I ran a retail stoire I could at least punch the bums in the face.

Malcolm - wooooooooahhhhh, take a deep breath. There will be NO face hitting until I get there. Now just hang on. 🙂

Oh, do I know what you mean. I think sometimes buyers think we're all idiots and that we will fall for anything. It's like the teenager versus the parent. There ain't been a trick designed that can escape my scrutiny. I'm not saying we have the answers to all the tricks, but we sure don't fall for them.

Sounds to me like you were going to get that neg anyway Mal...and as much as that is awful and depressing, you have to rise above it an move on. I usually hate platitudes myself, but this is a real fact in some situations. When your emails are blocked, use the internal system. But that is a sure sign that the person doesn't want to complete the transaction and so why push it. Count your lucky stars that you are NOT within ear shot of the person, because he could be a real bad dude.

Negatives are stigmatic, there's no question. But I think you have to remember that any sensible person sees the good with the bad and draws his conclusion from that. A sensible person will also consider the source of the negative left. Especially with your line Mal...it's rather expensive stuff and people with money are 'usually' people with intelligence, so I wouldn't worry too much. Tell them to email ME. I'll clue them in!!!

I know K will prolly read this, but I think she was one who was thoroughly hurt by her first neg. It seemed to knock the wind right out of her. The second one gets easier. Just continue to do your business like you usually do and to he11 with the rest 🙂

I threatened legal action, the buyer has posted $20 and is going through Square Trade to get neg removed. She admits that she put on filters that prevented me from emailing her and now is doing everything to get neg reversed.

I also reported to eBay that contact info was not correct since I could not email her therefore neg should be removed for that reason.

With the flick of a finger on the keyboard in the safety of their homes, these idiots can cause so many problems.

In another thread I have asked eBay to comment on their hard stance over feedback removal especially negs from newbies against PS who have a good reputation.

I work for myself and not eBay. They work for me. I pay them enough fees such that I deserve a little more respect than being treated equally as they put it.

Anyway, by day I am mild mannered Kent, reporter and sometimes seller on eBay but at night, with my back to the wall I turn into SuperBully ready to take on the world.

Hey Jackie,
My first neg is supposed to be being removed by ebay. If it were only a neg based on poor service or bad merchandise, it wouldn't have pi$$ed me off...it was a totally unfair neg that I was set up for, and it was a total falsehood. It was vindictive, and done by an individual with an ax to grind, and I just don't believe the mentality of some people. It was an elaborately constructed, premeditated neg. And, I had negged the individual in question several months ago because of non payment on another item. Now, on top of auction interference, this person has written to me asking me to remove the complaint that I made to ebay about them. Lol. Gee, I don't think so.
Maybe it was the straw that broke the camel's back, I don't know, but couple it with a poor buying season (although my ebay fees and ended transactions indicate that it was a good one), I just need a break from the whole silly thing. That, however, has not stopped me from buying jewelry, and I now own 4 more pieces than I did 2 days ago (pure folly for me to work at a pawn shop, let me tell you). I have been selling on ebay for 2 years, have always enjoyed it, but lately, this kind of stuff seems rampant, and I am losing patience with it...no, let me rephrase that, I have totally lost patience with it. I work fulltime as well, and don't have the energy to put up with the sophomoric behaviour that I have had to witness. A break will do me good.
Hey, have a merry Christmas, everybody!

Geeeezus Karen, you had better hope you get another feedback soon. I can't see you sailing thru Christmas with THAT number beside your name 😉

Glad to hear you're getting rid of the neg. Anybody I know? Oh BTW, I got something returned to me today (you know who) and is this ever going to be interesting. More later. What the he11 are you going to do with all that jewelry, K??? Yeeesh...lend me some, will ya???

I know, I haven't sold anything lately either, so I'll have to buy to get rid of that number, I guess! lol
I'm wearing the jewels as we speak...7 rings on my left hand, 3 bracelets, 4 on my right hand and 3 bracelets. You have to see the rose gold beauty that I got yesterday. Mind you, it's hard to find amongst all the others. I am trying to look like a Christmas tree. You wouldn't believe all of the pawned jewelry that women get for Christmas, I am bushed. Exhausted...I got home about 4, went for a nap, slept for 2 hours and woke up and thought that it was morning. Poor Tom is doing double shifts and he is whipped too. We might wake up at about 1 o'clock on Christmas day at this rate. Have to grocery shop tomorrow a.m. at the 24 hour grocery store..and get my nails done at 5. Too much.
Email me and tell me the story PLEASE (sorry for shouting).
No, nobody we know...

You probably wont want to talk to me anymore due to the almost total absence of jewellery that adorns me. I dont even wear a wedding band.

When I go out, I put on a watch but remove it the second I get home. Although I own about 15-20 watches and probably a half-dozen rings. Maybe I'm a closet jewellery collector of there is such a thing.

No wonder you're so tired lugging all that gold and jewellery around all day. And to make your poor husband work double shifts just so that you can buy more jewellery.

Have you no shame????

Ahhh Malcolm - you are such a caution :))) You know K's sweety doesn't work shifts. So, there goes THAT notion.

I think a lot of men are like that, regarding jewelry. The ones that aren't had better be tasteful about it or forget about it. Can't stand a guy with too many baubles. Don't want my man to be better dressed than me, as it were.

But, you do sound like you could be a closet dude, somewhat there kiddo. Does it all mean something special, or are you just saving for a rainy day?? Either way, I think you'll be just fine, thank you very much!!!

Hugs,

Jackie...

Actually I buy the clothes for my wife and my daughter. My 14 year old daughter wont even go shopping with her mother but she will with me at the drop of a hint I'm going to the mall.

I bought my wife a nice coordinated outfit last week for Christmas. Each piece from a different section of the store. At the check out the woman serving me commented on my fantastic taste for clothes and ability to coordinate them so perfectly. Another woman working there came over felt the pants and commented on my taste for beautiful fabrics, that I really know what a woman wants. (Baby she's got that right)

Anyway, my thing is clothes. I love shopping for clothes for myself, my wife, my son and my daughter. We have closets full of clothes and the basement is full of plastic bins with clothes yet I can never find anything to wear.

With this eBay thing I'm a kinda sweat pants and t-shirt guy but on Bay Street in Toronto on contract, it is strictly French Cuffs all the way.

Malcolm, can you handle a wife #2? John is convinced that shopping is an invention of shopaholic women and that no man should ever have to do any of it. Not even his own socks (although in that department he does know what he likes)! Actually, I prolly don't need a different husband, what I
really need is a personal shopper! What luxury ...

With all this eBay stuff, I've become quite pear-shaped -- not at all easy to shop for and nothing fits!! But I do like quality fabric and well made clothes.

Malcolm, my hubby works his butt off, and I'm not sure how many hours he would log in a week, but it is at least twice what I do. My jewelry fetish, however, is fed by my own personal money, or working for it now, LOL...I'm on holidays, but I consider a pawn shop a holiday! Can hardly wait until tomorrow...I can rest up for 2 days then...after making the turkey for the family Christmas. It beats the 33 people that we had for a crab dinner in the summer when the Aussie cousins were visiting...
You know, people are so different, it is kind of neat. I love to scrounge for clothes, Value Village is my all time fav place to shop...I can browse there for hours, it calms my soul...and I hate malls and new clothing, don't ask why. I figure that I got used to wearing my sister's hand me downs when I was a kid, or something...now, I buy name brands there, or funky as heck, I like both. Next to that, Winners gets my business...I don't have to wend my way through a mall to be there. My husband is a casual type guy, too, but I've turned him into a casual Polo or Calvin Klein guy. Now, to me, that is important...my blue jeans have to be Guess or Calvin. My teaching clothes are mostly denim...blue jeans for 2 or 3 days, with a nice shirt and blazer with antique brooches, black jeans the other 2 or 3 days. I have a freaking fortune of jewelry on my various parts of my anatomy, but my whole ensemble in clothes likely cost me $20. I'm a sort of eclectic person, I don't fit into any mold, except "not your usual"...That's clothes and jewelry.
Well, I gotta go to bed...morning comes early (how I hate that saying!).
Nighty night.

I can hardly wait until eBay Canada has a Canadian conference just so that we can all get together.

I didnt attend the Ottawa one, I was too new to eBay to feel that I could contribute and at the same time didnt feel like I could learn anything.

I guess too that I am one of the few in Canada, let alone Ottawa that concentrated on musical instruments, I didt feel that I would have the same interests with the other Ottawa area people attending.

Now a National conference, that would be a hoot!
