So I finally hear about this RBC Virtual Visa today. Will I be able to use this instead of paypal?

RBC Virtual Visa Debit can also be used at participating Canadian online retailers that accept Visa Debit. In addition, your RBC Virtual Visa Debit Number can be used to set-up recurring bill payments, telephone and mail order purchases as participating Canadian online retailers."

Canadian Banks are not that user friendly to merchants wanting to set up merchant credit card accounts, and mention mail order and/or internet order and they can really get "uptight". Paypal can be less expensive than merchant credit card accounts at a bank, and some sellers that I know have saved a substantial amount by switching from a bank's merchant account to Paypal's merchant account.

These cards are a real scam! OK so they are not illegal in any way just slimy.

Use your debit card (you get no interest free credit period) and we (the bank) get to charge the merchant the same fees they would pay on a real credit card.

So instead of a merchant paying RBC 12 cents to process a payment they get to pay 2.5 - 3% (or more as it's a cross border transaction).

Yes it's true, RBC virtual Visa as an interac and PayPal transaction card can replace your personal bank account for all transactions including receiving funds from Ebay purchases. I confirmed this with my bank on the phone today. Maybe now, after I fix the mess in my own personal account, we can all breathe a little easier. Sorry Ebay, you guys do a great job, only wish PayPal would get their act together and speed things up!

My strong suggestion to Ebay and PayPal, give all people opportunity to make money, make them happier shoppers, customers and sellers and I guarantee, your profits will quadruple in no time. Greed kills small business. Give everyone a chance to make some hard cash. We need to take care of each other not compete. China is killing us in manufacturing and marketing.
