I wonder if anybody managed to make sales tax collection to work for e-bay check out. I can not solve this mastery for a long time.

I have tax tables set in both e-bay and paypal preferences, still taxes are not get applied on purchased unless manually entered trough e-bay invoicing.

Does this work for anybody automatically without manual intervention?

Sales tax configuration problems. Does it work?

It works most of the time for me. When I'm doing invoices I just have to be sure that I get the right province in the drop down table that appears when I prepare an invoice, ie if the buyer lives in Ontario and I plug in NS no tax will appear. If I plug in Ontario the 13% rate appears and the tax is added. I have also noticed fewer complaints about the tax since it became part of the "official" Ebay invoice.

There is also an option when you create a listing to apply your tax table to the individual listing which has to be applied so the tax table you created does indeed get shown and calculated.

The eBay invoice generator will then apply the tax schedule in the table according to the buyers registered address.

You can also set up multiple tables, so if you are selling goods that are exempt from the provincial tax you would have 2 tables and selct which one applies when creating the listing.

Don't get too creative, it's not a very sofisticated algorythm.

Finally I've figured it out. Tax option was hidden under "Other things you'd like buyers to know" section. Very counter intuitive for me...

Sales tax again. It's been working for me, but lately I got an order from a Toronto buyer (subject to GST & PST) and order was paid without tax and with wrong shipping.

My Site Preferences are:

Use checkout Yes
Offer PayPal on my listings Yes
Display "PayPal Preferred" on my listings No
Include my items when buyers pay all their Sellers at once using PayPal Yes
Allow Buyers to edit payment totals No
Use this payment address See Addresses under My Account.
Use sales tax table Yes

Anybody can tell me what's going on? Was the buyer able to remove the taxes and edit the shipping? Or it's an eBay "make the buyer happy" glitch?

Anyhow, I asked the customer what they did and he said he did not do anything and happily send me the payment with taxes and shipping difference. So it must be one of those eBay glitches.

With competing marketplaces popping up all over the globe, I wonder how long will eBay buggy platform stand against better-writen competitors once they get to some serious trqaffic. eBay is like "Yahoo" of internet commerce, with bloated website and living off old fame. I wonder who will be "Google" of internet commerce taking it by storm with well thought algorithms and simple and working website ... 😉

I have never had a problem with the correct taxes showing automatically to auction winners and I also set up the tax table on both eBay and Paypal.
