I have a "sketchy bidder" on one of my items:
Feedback score of 0, strange name, and new account.
The item I have listed is a digital item... All that would be needed is for me to transfer the rights by changing e-mail address.
So with that in mind, what would be the ideal way to proceed? Should I or can I cancel the bid? Or should I take extra precautions for the payment to clear? Or am I worrying for nothing?
Thanks!

Nothing is sketchy about a new user. Even you began with a "0" as feedback score 😉 Unless there is something else that this buyer did?

Why is it that a seller will list an item, get a bid, and immediately start screaming scam? Why list in the first place? Bidder is bidding on a couple other items. OP, you can see the bidder's name. Go and look what they are bidding on.
In the meantime, cancel any and all bids. Ya don't need sketchy buyers, scammers, or a possible sale.
I give up.

The OP has had just a few sales this year and before that their last sale was probably in 2009. To me they qualify as a new seller so I see why they would be nervous...especially if they read the boards which tend to report the negative experiences rather than the positive ones.
