Caught a glimpse of the latest Reader's Digest in the No Frills line this morning.
They show pics of the four most trusted people in Canada.
Right there on the cover - Stephen Harper.
Wonder how the CONS managed that one?

I find May has a lot of intelligence and common sense.....but unfortunately not a lot of charisma.
Her main weakness and that of the Green Party (who really need a name change) is lack of notable platform on other areas of government other than environment.
She also has a huge problem that exists not only in Canada, but many other countries.....the media. The media continually control our lives and that includes in the area of politics. As far as they are concerned we have two main parties and one fringe party and no one else is worthy of being heard, which harms our whole system of so-called democracy.
Once again you raise some very valid points, but with a system like ours there can never really be a consensus. Think about it, you have the liberals and conservatives with a NDP party that is trying to change ir's perception and do not forget the fringe element of separatists both in Quebec and out West. Is Canada really capable of having a party that represents the majority?
While I think our diversity and openness is second to none and should be admired by all, it is also a curse because we really don't have that single thing that makes Canada special. We have much of America, UK and France just through historical association but also have become the largest melting pot for the rest of the world and a conglomeration of a multitude of cultures and beliefs.
I think if May became a leader that helped shape and define a Canadian identity based on environmental responsibility but also of that special inclusiveness Canadians seem to have along with a deep desire to be a fiscally controlled society that values fairness and inclusion over elitism and disparity acceptance, she could do well. The 3 key parties are all controlled by corporate interests of one kind or another and an approach that actually listens to the voters would be refreshing.
