Time before opening a case in Global Shipping Program

Hello, I just bought an Item and I would like to know after how much time can I open up a case for not receiving my tracking number via Global Shipping Program? Like after X days of waiting for the tracking number via the global shipping program I can open up a "Did no recieve item" case.

The time limit is the estimated delivery date for your item. You can find the estimated delivery date at http://www.ebay.ca/myb/Summary. IF the item has not arrived by the estimated delivery date, you can open an "item not received" case through the Resolution Centere. Hope this helps!

But I cant open a case if he did not ship? Because if he did ship I would have my tracking number. Am I obligated to wait the estimated receive date or after X amount of days I can report for not shipping(I know he did not ship because no tracking number). Sorry for being repetitive

Time before opening a case in Global Shipping Program

Hello again, 'shunkius',

<< ...after how much time can I open up a case for not receiving my tracking number via Global Shipping Program? Like after X days of waiting for the tracking number via the global shipping program I can open up a "Did no recieve item" case.>>

You knew, of course, that there is no such thing as a  'did not receive tracking number' case. Smiley Happy

And you also were aware  (I know you know this) that you can expect a tracking number only for the first leg of the journey when the item goes to Kentucky but after that you will not likely receive one unless you call Pitney-Bowes and inquire.

A seller has 7 days to get an item in the mail initially before he loses his seller protection.  Me, I'm patient and don't mind waiting longer but I see you are in a bigger hurry than that.   (What if his wife goes into hospital for an emergency C-section, or his father has a heart attack, or his son has a serious bicycle accident. . .)

So you can only open a case for Item Not Received when it appears you did not receive your item, -- once the last date of delivery has passed.  The following link explains about timelines:

http://pages.ebay.ca/help/buy/item-not-received.html#timeframes

Have you got an "estimated delivery" time when you view the item in your Purchase History?

Even though the GSP folks will not likely volunteer the tracking number for Phase 2 of the shipping process, -- the item does have a number so that it can be tracked and traced.  I strongly urge you to resist opening a premature claim (for this or any item) until you have exhausted all other avenues of inquiry and been given no satisfaction.  To do otherwise will make you look like a crook trying to scam a freebie.  Do that too many times and your buying privileges will be revoked.

In the event that you truly do not get your item, you open a claim and state that it was a GSP item.  You may need to call ebay via the Help & Contact link (top of the page) and speak to a GSP specialist, -- but how 'bout you blow up that bridge when you come to it?

You also know that cheap items from Asia, and Surface Mail parcels can take up to 3 months, although that is rare, but were you aware that Paypal gives you 180 days (nearly 6 months) from when you paid to file a claim?  See Section 13.5 of the following:

https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/ua/useragreement-full#13

It is really just about impossible to lose.

I understand that you are in a desperate rush to get your goodies, but your own urgency will not speed up the process.  Items coming through the GSP are slow, -- there have been reports of GSP items taking wildly long and circuitous routes through Japan and even New Zealand.  It is not a good choice for the chronically impatient.

For now, though, get to know the ebay policy on what happens if something sincerely doesn't arrive (there is no offer of financial compensation for "late" items.  This is mail order, -- it's not ordering pizza).  It is really easy reading, have a look:

http://pages.ebay.ca/help/buy/item-not-received.html#notreceived

So have some fun and enjoy the spring weather whilst waiting for your package to arrive.

I wish you joy of your item. Smiley Very Happy

I just saw this comment, - hidden away as it was:

<<But I cant open a case if he did not ship? Because if he did ship I would have my tracking number. Am I obligated to wait the estimated receive date or after X amount of days I can report for not shipping (I know he did not ship because no tracking number).>>

Okay, 'shunkius', you seem unclear on a couple points so let's see if I can help sort it out. Smiley Happy

If someone does not ship an item, of course you can open a case.  That's the whole point, -- and hard to believe as it is, there really are sellers who will scam newbies and not send an item.  But that is pretty rare, and if you look at those links about where and how to get help, it will certainly never happen to you.

Not all items have a tracking number.  Americans can ship state-to-state with tracking quite cheaply, that is why you will get the first number to Kentucky.  On a small, lightweight item it only costs the seller an extra 50 cents or something like that.  In Canada, even if you are mailing a birthday card to you buddy in the same town, if you want tracking it will cost you about 14 bucks.

Canada Post is really expensive.  For the matter of that, most international tracked services are very expensive.

'No tracking number'  does not mean the item has not been sent.  Half the stuff I buy comes without tracking.  As I mentioned, I don't mind waiting, and with Paypal's 6 months to file a claim, I know I can easily wait 2+ months before inquiring "where's my item".  But I almost never have to do that because things always arrive by then.

So yes, you will find that just because you have not been issued a tracking number,  you cannot hastily open a "not received" case the day after you paid.  You have to wait.

Moreover, the seller may need a day or 2 to get it packaged and in the mail.  He may have forgot about it.  So after, say, 3 days you might feel the need to send a polite note to the seller to ask if he has mailed this item to Kentucky yet and what the number is.

It is important that you not absolutely equate tracking numbers with evidence of shipment.  If you buy from the UK, sellers often get "proof of shipment" which is not a tracking number but it proves the item was mailed and protects sellers against credit card chargebacks.

You do not need a tracking number to know an item is on its way.  If you buy small, inexpensive items  they will not likely have tracking because it is expensive for most things.

DVDs, CDs, cheap video games, -- many Canadian sellers offer these and the parcels will not have tracking.

As for this GSP item, give it a few days and then ask the seller for the number.  If he is entirely unresponsive, you can try one more time in a further few days and explain that you will have to open an ebay case if he does not wish to offer any information, -- but again, face that when you come to it.

You being in a hurry will not make things outside your control move faster.

Now go do something relaxing. Smiley Wink

It looks like your new to the System..   Why would you open a case?     you are being shipped a item outside of your country.. and your worried about a tracking number..   Not sure where you live.. but there is a window  of like 45 days..    to be reasonable .. how about 3 weeks for most deliveries..

Be patient Newbie..
