I do not understand why your sellers are allowed to charge such HIGH RIDICULOUS freight charges?????? I was ordering a great deal from E-bay but now I realize that they are not only selling in constant US dollars, but the majority of sellers are ripping people off by charging the highest rates EVER!!!
I do not know what kind of monitoring is done, but consumers could be getting ripped off without knowledge to Ebay.
I have spoken to friends & family that have also stopped using Ebay because of this problem. Also, there is the issue of US dollars and some items are being sold right here in Canada????
I have also had a seller before Christmas pass a fake MK bracelet as an original. I am only thankful I was able to receive a refund!!
Please advise me on the issues I have concern for and why the Ebay Company doesn't have a better selling policy?

Smart buyers get all the info before buying. If you don't like the shipping charge, don't buy.

For EBay sellers, we are told that items sell better when listed in US dollars. I don't understand it (I am relatively new to selling on EBay) so I list both in US and CAD dollars until I get a better grasp on this. Also, as a seller, I have noticed that a lot of people want free shipping but that is impossible as the rates are going up. I don't know what other sellers are doing, but I am trying to offer "calculated shipping" with my products so each customer has the shipping calculated for them personally based on their location given the shipping services I offer (through Canada post) and are able to decide which speed they want. Other than that, I have no idea and am just trying to figure this out too. I think it is only fair to the seller and the buyer to do "calculated shipping" because this way the seller isn't scamming the buyer and the seller is not out any money when they go to ship (as they will be if they offer free shipping). Those are just my observations. I am sorry you are having bad experiences 😞

Have you actually visited canadapost.ca and usps.com to see what the postal rates are? Within Canada for example , if I ship a 3 cm thick paperback from Ottawa to Fort McMurray it will cost me about $12. This will rise in March when Canada Post moves FortMac to ‘isolated community’ status.
US sellers often do not understand international shipping. They want tracking to protect themselves against fraudulent claims of non-delivery. Until recently that meant using Global International Package, which starts aroung $25. Recently USPS made an agreement with Canada Post which allows the much cheaper First Class International rate to include Delivery Confirmation to Canada, but many sellers do not know this. Canadian cuatomers should politely educate them.
Then there is the Global Shipping Policy. If you import anything valued at $20 CDN (currently about $18 USD) you are supposed to pay applicable duty and tax. The shipping company (Canada Post, UPS, Pitney Bowes) will also charge a service fee on this which can be as little as $5 or as much as $25 minimum. The GSP takes that payment off your doorstep and charges it when you pay for your item.

The US market is 10 times that of Canada. Everyone in the world understands what the US dollar is , and Americans understand nothing else.
Most Canadians are smart enough to work out the difference between American dollars and loonies. If not, a comparison of the two currencies appears on every listing when viewed on eBaydotCA..
I only list in Canadian dollars when the item would be of interest to Canadians.
