Whee this is fun! 4 Problems with eBay .. wanna join me?

Hey all,

Below is a copy of the email I sent to several contacts within the eBay Customer Support world.

Please be aware that these are the 'shortened' versions of the problems I am having with eBay lately and that all of these problems have occured within a 20 day period.

I am having SOOO much fun!!

Check it out :

--------------------START-----------------

Hello,

Thank you for reading my eMail.

Please make yourself some coffee or tea before sitting down and reading this as I would very much appreciate your full attention.

Problems #3 and #4 are where I would like the most attention to be focused please.

--------------------
---- PROBLEM #1 ----
--------------------

Item #190059787240 (plus over 150 more) Adidas shoes.

Problem : Item restricted, only allowed sale to Australia, Canada, UK, and the USA.

Reason : Adidas shoes are at high risk of being sold by eBayers who sell counterfeit Adidas shoes.

What I have done : eMails to Customer Support referred me to eBay Live. eBay Live representative referred me to Customer

Support eMails. My eMails to Customer Support clearly outlined where, who and how I purchase my Adidas shoes for resale in

order to authenticate that my Adidas shoes are the genuine article.

Result so far : Nothing has been resolved regarding this issue. The shoes are still restricted.

--------------------
---- PROBLEM #2 ----
--------------------

Item #7213641900 - Patch - COACH for teachers and instructors Brand New

Problem : Item restricted, only allowed sale to Australia, Canada, UK, and the USA.

Reason : At the time of the restiction, no reason was given.

What I have done : I have contacted eBay Live and and related eMail contacts.

The Item : This item is a simple sew-on patch (the ones you sew on to a jacket) with the word 'COACH' on it. It measures 1" by 4" and is fully described clearly in the auction description.

Result so far : I was told eBay mistook this item for a designer handbag by the brand name 'Coach' which is at high risk of being sold by eBay sellers who actually sell counterfeit handbags.

The restriction has not been removed.

--------------------
---- PROBLEM #3 ----
--------------------

Item #190065522950 - eBook - Balisong Butterfly Knife - The Basics 3 eBooks

Problem : Removed from eBay.

Reason : Section 5.1 of the eBay User Agreement states, "You must describe your item and all terms of sale on the listing page of the Site." Listing Descriptions that are hosted primarily off of eBay are not permitted.

What I have done : eMails sent and conversation with eBay Live. No answer. eBay Live directs me to eMail links only. Several

eMails sent, no answer. No resolution.

The item : The item removed has no links or descriptions off eBay. The item perfectly falls within all the guidelines under the Digital Items Policy (http://pages.ebay.ca/help/sell/selling-digital-items.html#requirement). This item was created, written and drawn by Alex Weller (me) and is my creation in whole. No copyrights or eBay policies were violated at all.

Result so far : Nothing.

--------------------
---- PROBLEM #4 ----
--------------------

Item # 190066149651 - Kicking Target - Double Vinyl Clapping Style Brand New

Problem : Removed from eBay.

Reason : Section 5.1 of the eBay User Agreement states, "You must describe your item and all terms of sale on the listing page of the Site." Listing Descriptions that are hosted primarily off of eBay are not permitted. --

What I have done : Contacted eBay Live. Received canned, pre-programmed answers and Live Support cut me off intentionally.

The Item : The item is a martial art training device used as a target for punching or kicking. There are no links or descriptions that lead eBay buyers to any site off eBay at all. The removal of this item is completely unfounded.

Result so far : Nothing.

All my eBay ads use a template that I created myself over 6 years ago and have been using on eBay ever since. There has never

been an issue regarding how my items are presented in my ads until now.

I have been running Dragon Impact (dragonimpact) since 1991 as a legitimate business in British Columbia, Canada and I am an eBay PowerSeller and have been selling on eBay for almost 7 years.

I would very much appreciate a personal, non-canned reply to my concerns within a timely fashion. Please be aware that Problem #1 was addressed to eBay on Decemeber 7th and has still not been resolved ... I would appreciate that these issues be resolved and fully explained within the week.

Also, seeing as how no part what-so-ever of any of my ads violate any of eBay's Selling Policies (since they are the same ad templates I have been using for over 6 years with no prior problems) I would very much like to have all strikes against my account removed.

Thank you,

Alex Weller

------------------------------END----------------------

I have had some eMails from them, like the one where one Customer Service Rep thought I was selling from China .. y'know, Canada ... China ... same thing, and a bunch of other eMails that are way out in left field.

This is fun.

I'm sure glad eBay stepped-up their Security because, boy, I sure feel safe.

Alex.

thanks for the laugh first thing in the morning. gotta love that personal and individual attention from ebay...i had the same thing happen to me..a 'meissen' plate i was selling was restricted...i didn't even 'bother' to get help or an explanation from ebay..whats the point..by the time i would actually get a reply (a real non automated one that is), the item would have been sold and on its way to either canada, uk, us or australia...which indeed is right now.
you come to expect it after a while...sad..

They've already given you the answer but you're not listening. You can't do what you're doing. eBay is very fluid. Things change. What you were able to do 6 months ago you can no longer do today, nevermind 6 years ago. You gotta change sir. 🙂

The problem is that you have an image showing your description, your shipping costs and TOS. I looked at the VHS Passing the Guard listing. You cannot have an image for any of the above. In this particular case you have an image for shipping costs. Can't do that.

The reason for it is simple. You can list shipping costs as X, Y, Z. Listing ends and you now change the image to show shipping costs as A, B, C which are 3 times the original X, Y, Z. I'm not at all suggesting you do, have or will do this but it does happen. That's why they have the rule against it.

I can't help you on the other stuff but that's the reason for the last two complaints. And that you can change. I suggest you do so before they really ding you. It'll be worse because you've been warned. I only looked at a few of your listings. Some had the images outlined as above and some didn't. You really need to change the ones that use those type of images before they get reported. You can make it an HTML text box but not a jpg or gif or image of any type. That's the part that's the problem.

Does that help? Hope so. :)

Problem 1 probably won't be fixed because eBay doesn't CARE if your item is authentic or not. They just don't want sellers shipping designer items to the restricted countries -- period.

LOL, Jakeeangle puts out the fire with impact on the dragon!!. Excellent post.

I once made a purchase and asked the buyer ahead of time for the shipping cost before I clicked my mouse. Seller quoted me 65.00. After making my offers based on the quote, and having them accepted, the seller invoiced me twice the cost at 132.00

When enquiring what happened to my 65.00 cost. the seller said he had to use three boxes for my items instead of two, and that they usually added on 25 percent to that as a handling fee. I was given weights on three boxes and prices on each for a grand total of 132.

I course i just walked and said we can cancel, as I only agreed to 65.00 and made offers based on such. Seller can up the price more and doesnt need to change pictures to do it.

What can you do. Always an unfair gouging seller out there.

Tgcbas - how is your post pertinent to the OP or to subsequent posts? The OP is not gouging anyone. Subsequent posts made no accusation of gouging. How do you arrive at an exmaple of a gouging seller?

I guess ebay needs the rules. Although the buyer could walk, if the seller changed the pictures and thus the shipping price. Technically if the item were of big enough of a value, A seller could move to the courts to enforce the contract created even with the exchanged pictures.

It would then be up to the word of the seller or buyer and victims could be had.
