Why doesn't ebay charge a "bid-retraction - fee" or a "non-payment-penalty fee"???? It's really frustrating as a seller....

I had to open 3 unpaid item cases and I had 2 bid retractions, and in the process, lost a buyer who was seriously interested. I'm certain, a bid-retraction fee of $40 or so would avoid the "oooh, I'm soooo sorry, I bid on this item by accident and am actually not interested in buying it...."

I hope you are reporting the invalid retractions.

If you haven't done so already, set your buyer requirements to block bidders with 2 or more unpaid item strikes in the past 12 months, 4 policy violations in the past 6 months, do not have a paypal account or who live in countries you do not ship to.

Additionally, add all non payers and retractors to your blocked bidders list.

Non paying buyers deserve unpaid item strikes.

Think about that question for a minute.... Ok so say you own a store and you call the store and say do you have this game in stock and they say yes but if you ask us to hold the game and don't pick it up were charging you $20 .. How much business do you think they would lose...

If ebay annouced that everytime someone retracted a bid or didn't pay they were going to withdrawl $40 from their bank account ebay would dissappear in a hurry and then you would have no place to sell..

Your frustration is understandable but your solution is unbelievable...

List buy now with immediate payment ... Ebay is pondering the thought of making immediate payment available for auctions but who knows where that will go ...

The suggestion from the other guy on this post are alright but becareful of what you pick because you are a needle in a haystack and being to picky will leve you paying insertion fees for your unsold items over and over again ...

Selling anything or running a store is all about your customers ....

File unpaid case and maybe add to block bidders list .. I personally block anyone with 2 unpaid cases in 1 month many will block people who have that amount in 1 year but I think that cuts out alot of people because many stories are lies obviously but to have 2-4 unpaid cases in 1 year does not make a person a horrible buyer .. There credit card was maxed,,,They did not read desctiprion properly ..Account issues.... money problems all very reasonable reason.. Just block the ones who do not communicate and have lame excuses such as I bid on accident ...

I think that all such a fee would do is drive away bidders and buyers from eBay. The best thing you can do is to use the unpaid item process and give your non paying buyers strikes. As already mentioned, too many strikes will get the offending member suspended an unable to cause future problems for you and other sellers.
