eBay is changing the way it handles disputes between buyers and sellers, but the changes, announced in July, have been postponed a few months. The company also modified its user agreement and privacy policy.
eBay had included news of the protection policy last summer in its fall 2012 Seller Release announcement. On Monday, eBay announced a few differences to changes outlined in its original announcement and said instead of making the changes in February, the new policies would take effect beginning April 9, 2013.
""This year, the communication process between buyers and sellers in these instances will occur via the eBay Resolution Center - not My Messages, as announced prior. When the buyer first contacts the seller regarding an "Item Not Received" or "Item Not As Described," a case will be created in the Resolution Center to bring all communications in relation to the issue into one place. Cases opened in the Resolution Center will be an opportunity for direct communication between buyers and sellers, without eBay getting involved."

I just read that article and came here to see if anyone had posted about it yet. I am very interested to hear opinions on the pros and cons of the entire dispute process being handled through the resolution centre rather than through My Messages.
Will the buyers be less demanding and less likely to threaten to leave negative feedback or will they just choose another option like "Other" to contact the seller?
Is this another eBay step to manage our businesses for us or will it give us extra protection from abusive buyers?

"will it give us extra protection from abusive buyers?"
I think it will give somewhat added protection to sellers by eliminating the few "buyers" attempting to get a refund (full or partial) from sellers without first filing an actual claim on the record with eBay.
It is not a game changing policy change but every little bit helps. 🙂

It will be interesting to see if it changes anything.
