i was reading an earlier post and someone had mentioned that they were able to 'track' a package using the tracking number from canada post..whenever i have tried this, it only ever gives me when it left my city and when it arrives at the destination city, BUT NEVER, where it is in between. am i doing something wrong?

Yes, the tracking is very limited. Sometimes the information comes in out of order or is missing too. I've had to call in order to confirm where a package was after it was 'out for delivery' for over 10 days. We're trying to open an account with Purolator now - mostly owned by Canada Post but much better tracking and faster ground service than Expedited Parcel to the U.S.

power batteries-just wondering-obviously purolator is alot more expensive than expedited, so why not just pay for expresspost service through canada post itself? does expresspost have the same rotten tracking system?

We will still be using Xpresspost for Canadian shipments but Purolator Ground is more reliable and faster than Expedited Parcel for shipping to the United States. (If you ship enough packages, then you can negotiate for better rates too.)

Xpresspost tracking is supposed to provide more information and I am usually glad to have it when I need to trace something - but that extra information doesn't always show up.

Expedited Parcel really just has delivery confirmation but it still comes with a 'tracking number' to show that you actually shipped product - in case of PayPal disputes among other things. Small packets is much cheaper but limited in weight, not traceable and no tracking numbers. (I wouldn't ship MY ebay items without a tracking number. Not enough margin to cover losses to scammers. Your situation could be different.)

We will probably start using Puropaks (overnight) too since the rates offered to us for them is better than what we can ship for with FedEx Priority.
