spell check on TL

Spell checking the  listing for the  .com site does not work.  For example on every word it highlights, and makes no suggestions.  The listing for .ca spell check works fine, both in the title, and desciption sections, but not on .com

I have updated everything I can update, and re-checked to make sure I have missed anything.

POCO  = your TL suggestions are great!

spell check on TL

I checked my TL and there is a spellcheck button in the Description builder for ebay.ca listings but no button at all in my ebay.com listings. I checked several listings and no spellcheck button for ebay.com listings.

Very strange.

When I check my TL version (Help -> About TL), I am at 9.920.101.0.

If I look at TL help, I tried searching on spellcheck, spell, and got topic not found.

I also went through the TL Tools -> Options and found no checkbox to turn on for spellcheck.

spell check on TL

I posted a topic about the issue in the eBay.com Tools & Apps forum here:

http://community.ebay.com/t5/Tools-Apps/Turbo-Lister-Spell-Check-in-Design-view-no-longer-there/m-p/...

I also used the TL feature to send the problem through TL to the TL support group. I will post back an answer when I get one.

spell check on TL

I got an answer from TL support by email. My TL program is bad and needs to be reinstalled. I have a set of instructions to do. It will take hours. This is the 3rd time maybe 4th since Jan last year I have to reinstall TL. TL is so much trouble.

I need to wait until I have a free day to do this. I have 3 eBay ids in TL. It will take a while to do. I need to be in a good mood too to waste hours on a potentially very frustrating experience (again). There is always seems to be issues to encounter and overcome that I can't foresee and plan for.

I will let you know how it goes and if it fixes the issue.

spell check on TL

This is interesting. Due to the upcoming changes I added .com on TL as additional site to list on and it completed crashed TL. I've spent hours trying to find fixes. Eventually completely Uninstalled TL and all files and reinstalled and .ca part works and can use .com part BUT the spell check doesn't work (same as described above) and can't use description builder (click button and doesn't open)...which makes it useless for making .com listings.

I've never had to look and will start today. ..but are there other tools similar to TL out there that have less issues. I'm assuming if there are you need to pay for them?

Poco - I reinstalled Turbo Lister yesterday, from the Tools - "Install Complete Version Update"

All updates - etc, but no spell check.... just letting you know - maybe save you some work....

Thanks, I will wait. It would not be the first time TL support told me to reinstall and it did nothing. In the past, I would just wait for the next update and amazingly it cleared up my issues. But I only use TL to archive listings I created online. So I can wait for another update to see if it works better. This was a few years ago when TL was being updated several times a month because of all the ebay Seller Update changes. There are less TL updates it seems in the past year or so.

I followed the instructions. I uninstalled TL using Windows Control Panel, then I downloaded and install TL Canada Version from the link provided in the email, I ran updates. I did not use my existing database, I made a fresh TL id with this ebay ID and a fresh TL database. I wanted to make it clean and restore a backup from my old TL db.  I then downloaded the eBay.com USA TL to add to my ebay.ca Canada module.

I synchronized okay. I then imported my Active listings, then my Sold and got a download error, never had one before ever, then imported my UnSold from last 90 days, got another download error and 1 record was lost, then I imported both Sold and UnSold and got a download error. Wow. Frustrated. Never had import download errors.

I then checked an ebay.ca Canada listings and it had spellcheck. I checked an ebay.com USA listings and no spellcheck. The instructions said to download some Microsoft modules, DHTML.msi and I did that too. Still no spellcheck.

So I emailed TL tech support with my latest fresh install. Got another TL tech reply and he says that TL only offers spellcheck on the first original module (in this case eBay.ca) and not on any other modules downloaded after (eBay.com USA). You can only have one spellcheck module.

Wow, if true, then they wasted my time making me reinstall TL. I had a perfectly good TL before. So dumb. I still have to restore my backup and set up my other two ebay.ids in TL. It is costing me hours.

I always hated TL. Unreliable, error prone, glitchy, bad support. One more reason to hate TL for wasting my time. I list online with ebay Sell Your Item form because TL was always a pain. I just use it to backup my listings online in case I ever need them again. (I sell OOAK items and sometimes I get the same Item again months or years later.)

I will wait to see if they confirm that TL only supports one spellcheck. It seems silly if this is true. But TL is a really strange program design. If true and they made me reinstall for nothing, I am not going to be happy with this.
