Final Value Fee on Shipping What the Heck!

Okay, on items that fit this category that weigh no more than 0.150 (kg) the Canada Post rate of $3.79 is what I am charging plus tax which comes to $4.28. Yet, I'm being charged a final value fee on shipping. I am not overcharging, nor am I making up this loss in any discounts or Venture one discounts. These amounts separately are not that much but put them together with a dozen others and the amounts start to add up. I get no satisfactory response from eBay except the "feeling" that I have to suck it up and take the loss.

We are also being charged insertion fees when I have over 200 listings yet available under my freebies. We deliberately stopped listing to allow a huge margin left on our freebies and this is still happening. We are getting nowhere with eBay. Is there a rule that if you relist an item so many times, you are then charged an insertion fee?  What the heck?

Rose, if you are registered on .ca even if you have a store and list on .com you are still considered part of .ca and go by the .ca rules.

Yes, that's correct.  But I think Mr. Elmwood is actually registered on eBay.com as a store, not on eBay.ca, so he may be seeing something different than the rest of us.

I checked my store and I used to have the 150 per month there for .ca and .com, now it is showing just for .com

Thanks for checking - this is exactly what I was referring to.  I thought maybe I was losing my marbles.  EBay is like a shape-shifting shell game sometimes.  They rarely actually notify sellers about these changes -- it's not the first time we've been flailing around trying to figure out what has changed and why.  I will try to be available tomorrow during the Wed. discussion to bring this up.

Pierre is registered on .com. He receives free listings each month on both sites. Elmwood just hasn't tried to receive them.  I'm not positve....but as far as I know, this is not a perk just for us.. It is available to users on .com as well but they aren't usually aware of it.

There is a short thread about this:

Thanks jen, I never thought about the listing quantities re-setting each day. Makes sense since its a daily count!

Yes, I remember that discussion.  I do wonder though whether things have changed in terms of who gets how many freebies and on which site, as Pierre suggested they might at some point.  As I said, I'm almost certain the lines of text indicating free listings on .com used to be shown on my Summary page, even though I hadn't used those listings.  You wouldn't have noticed this difference if you have been using the free .com listings, since the count would always show up in any event.

I'd like to check with the Pinks (or whatever colour they are now) tomorrow and see if I've been dreaming or if things indeed have quietly been changed.  Of course even the Pinks sometimes don't seem to know what's been going on at eBay HQ.

P.S. Sorry about all the lines - I couldn't get rid of them.  These boards don't function terribly well for revisions and edits.

To follow up, for what it's worth, at this Wednesday's open discussion, Kalvin indicated there have been no changes that "he's aware of" to the free listings offered to store owners, for example, a Canadian-registered Basic store will be eligible for 150 on .ca (or cafr), plus 150 on .com.  The same applies to other store levels.

To the OP -- If it doesn't appear you're getting your full allotment of freebies, and you're sure it isn't caused by a double rollover of listings in a long month (i.e. January), I'd contact Kalvin directly.
