In the past 3 weeks, I have had numerous offers to buy an item but only if they can pick up locally. Very strange none of these members live in my community - yet state they live near me. Most state we will pay you extra for your trouble sometimes more than shipping would cost. No, I did not respond to any of them. I do find this very weird. Is anyone else getting this?

I think I know that scam.
The buyer tells you that a friend will pick up the item.
Then payment is made by 'certified' cheque.
But the cheque is for more than the agreed amount.
You are asked to pay the difference to the guy picking up.
The cheque bounces.
I think there are some other versions of it.
A credit card chargeback on a PP payment for example.
Most real customers want to pick up to avoid any shipping fees, so there's the red flag.

We had that happen to us. Buyer said they wanted to buy a certain item
and would send a friend to pick it up. Payment would be at time of pick-up.
We said we would arrange to meet them at our local bank
and they could withdraw CASH to pay us.
Never heard from them again.
