I'm so confused I feel as though my head is going to explode!
I'm a Canadian who sold on ebay.com for about 20 years, then took a break when things changed on Ebay. Now I want to get back to selling, but I'm told that without a U.S. bank account & U.S. address, I can't sell on the .com site but must switch to ebay.ca under a new seller name.
Fine, I'm willing to do that, but I've also been told that it means I'll lose the 3500 positive feedback ratings that I accumulated over two decades! Is this possible? Is there no way to transfer them or link them?? It's devastating to think I have to start from scratch.
Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.
Thanks everyone! I'm going to give opening a US account a try, though I'm not hopeful, since the last person I spoke with at Ebay said I need not only a US bank account, but a physical US address as well. Still, it's worth a try. I'm going to keep this thread open for a little while in the hopes that someone out there has managed to transfer their feedback to the .ca site.
Thanks so much again for your help!
I don't think there is any way to transfer your feedback if you open a new account. Since we can jump back and forth from either .ca or .com with the same user name and password I would think your info should still carry forward. Since I'm assuming it's the whole Managed Payments that is confusing the issue, I would think as long as you have a US bank account at a Canadian financial institution it should still work??
This is what comes up if you search it:
"Funds from Managed Payments can ONLY be sent to a BANK account located in Canada (Transferwise is neither) and it must be a chequing accounts not a savings account. You need to open a US Dollar bank account from a Canadian financial institution (Bank or Credit Union)."
It would be a shame to lose the feedback but not sure if you are okay with the idea of opening a US account with a Canadian bank (wouldn't that work??)
I sell on .ca so I'm not talking from experience, only what seems like it should be right and a quick "search" seems to confirm (but thinks seem to change on the daily around here so who knows!)
Good luck!
Just to confirm, you originally registered on .com?
I communicated with someone in Ontario who signed up for MP last year. She originally registered on .com as well and had no problem opening an MP account on .ca iwth her .com regiserted address. So something has obviously changed. I don't get the impression though that they are interested in fixing it.
Thanks Lotz - interesting info in the thread and certainly comforting to see I'm not alone, but the issue of transferring feedback wasn't discussed. Anyone have any ideas about that?

See attached discussion. It includes hints and suggestions on how to proceed.
