Desperately need help with "seller choosing shipping. I am in Canada and want to offer World-

The selling process is different from what I used before.  I have tried for hours but still no options are available for seller.  I would like buyer to choose from everything offered by Canadapost for their choice of domestic, or

Overseas - USA, and other options.    I am so fed up.  Can I opt out of this and simply have them contact with their postal code and I will give costs for mailing.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

I am still lost - if shipped in Canada it has three options - domestic, USA, international non USA - and within gthose three are at least another 3 each. On top of that there are distance etc for each of the main choices.

Okay.

First unless you can use Letter Rates (under 2cm thick and under 500gr) you should be using Calculated Shipping.

So.

Go to-> Shipping details

Go to-> dropdown-> Calculated Shipping

Go to->Services-> dropdown and choose ONE service.

  • ONE because KISS and as mentioned your buyer will choose the cheapest and expect the expensive service
  • Expedited costs the same as Regular  domestically. This would be my choice. Both are TRACKED.
  • You can also at this point choose Local Pickup or another service. Up to you, but I'd avoid both at the moment.

Go to-> International Shipping

Go to->Choose custom destination Go to->USA

  • Don't ship overseas until you have at least 10 DSRs , know what DSRs are, and understand their utter unimportance.

Go to-> Choose services

  • Now.  The cheapest useful service is Small Packet USA Air.  It is NOT tracked. So you need to make a command decision here.
  • How likely is it that my customer will claim non-delivery even if the item arrives promptly? If the chances are high (your items are high value/high fraud OR your customers fit the criminal demographic of male between 15-35) then choose Tracked Packet USA .

Go to->Package weight and dimensions

  • Use METRIC . Canada Post went metric in 1974. Any thing else will lead to errors.
  • Don't guess. Weigh and measure the parcel. If you will be packing later, you may have to estimate the weight of packaging, but at first do it every time until you have a feel for it.
  • This is the part where eBay (not you) will calculate the cost to your buyer's doorstep.

Go to->Excluded Destinations

  • Anywhere you don't want your listings even to be seen. Nigeria? Brazil? France? You can exclude entire continents.

Go to-> Location.

  • This is the location of your product, not your location. I hope they are both the same.

Note the Fees that you will pay. If you chose any special features, the cost will show here and be non-refundable.

Go to-> LIST ITEM

Whew.  Done.

It just struck me that you may have been defaulted into the Simplified selling form.

Look at the top right forCustomize.

That should take you to the Advanced/Business form.

DO NOT CLICK ON 'TRY THE NEW FORM!'

IT IS HORRIBLE AND SLOW AND NASTY AND SHOULD BE BURNED WITH FIRE.

You don’t want to offer your buyers a choice in shipping methods. Nine times out of ten they’ll opt for the cheapest, slowest, untrackable option which could open you up to a warranted or unwarranted claim of non-delivery.

Choose a shipping method for the item that is appropriate for its value and category and don’t entertain offers to downgrade it.
