Items no longer automatically relisting as my accounts have reached 'maturity'

I have two ebay accounts, one for 22 years and the other for 6 years. My 7-day auction items end every Sunday and are automated to immediately relist if unsold and have done so for years.

Today, all 1,200+ items between both accounts never relisted.

I contacted ebay as to why and they stated that both my accounts are 'suddenly' considered 'old accounts' and because of that, I can no longer automate my items to relist...I have to relist them manually every week or switch to fixed auctions????

This is the first time I have heard of such nonsence...is this true??

And why would a 22-year-old account and a 6-year-old account suddenly reach 'maturity' on the same day?

Did either of your accounts have problems in the switchover from PayPal to Managed Payments?

Ah! I ddin't catch that you were using Auctions.

There are many reasons why 85% of sales are Fixed Price.

Basically they come down to buyers not liking them.

There is a place for them in Collectibles, but if there are multiple copies for sale on eBay, it is usually best to go with Fixed Price.

As an experienced seller, you probably have a very good idea of the market price of your items.  Using Fixed Price gives you 30 days of exposure and as the rep told you, automatic relisting.

I suspect the 16 month notice only applies to Fixed Price, by the way.

I occasionally use Auctions, usually when DH demands it. When they don't sell, which is usually, they get relisted at a price a little higher than I want to get with Best Offer enabled and parameters for automatic acceptance/rejection set.

I would suggest using the dotCOM site. The USA has ten times our population and they are much less likely to look at "foreign " sites than any other nation.

You get additional free listings at no extra cost, and more eyeballs.

There are quirks.

You have to list in USD.

You have to use Flat Rate Shipping.  (And pay attention to the current posts about Canada Post LetterMail.)

And you must ship to the USA although you need not ship to Canada.  (Not really a problem).

Best wishes.

I know I've been casual about the number of listings I have because of all the Promotional Free Listings.

But.

Those Promotions end with the month, so they should be good until Feb. 28.

Are you listing on both dotCA and dotCOM? Normally that nearly doubles the number of listings you can have without extra charge.

Can you list on either dotCOM or dotCA or are both showing the same problem.

I really don't understand the "maturity" part, since my account has been around since the turn of the millennium without any such notation.

I do have a lot of long tail items, and sometimes get a "16 months without a sale" notice. Those I move to Unsold for a day or two and then relist as Sell Similar.  Have you seen the 16 month notice?

I do suspect it has something to do with Managed Payments, though what I cannot imagine.

Tomorrow  the eBay staff should be back at work.

I had the same problem yesterday.... My auctions items did not relisted and I also had the relist until it sell rule on them.  I  had no notice that this is happening and have been doing the same thing for a few years.   So I would like to know waht is going on.  So does this means I have to list manually?  Does not make sence as relisting automatically seem to make thinks more streamlined for the seller and EBay....

Were these automatic relists free or were you charged an insertion fee once you went over a certain amount?

I don't know how ebay decides these things but I do know that many sellers do not have that option. I've read that it is for newer sellers though I don't know how accurate that is.  I doubt that there is anything that you can do about it.

I do have a question though. Why use auctions when most of them only receive one bid?  I know that some people want to buy an item now..not in seven days so you might have better luck using 30 fixed price listings.  Just a thought.

I had the same problem with my other account yesterday, auctions did not relisted even if they have the relist until it sell rule on them. And that account is one month old, so eBay answer is weird. Its probably just one more glitch between the hundred on the site with no answer to give to sellers. Im curious to know whats going on too and if ill need to relist manually every week from now
