Ebay helps rip off scammers again

Been on Ebay with a few accounts for about 25 years and things get worse every year.
I just got ripped off for almost $1500 this time and lost my item and as usual Ebay sides with a dishonest buyer and offers no protection for sellers.
Absolutely no help at all and they couldn't care less.
This ridiculous 30 day return policy is being taken advantage off.
So from what I can see you can keep an item for 30 days and get your money back no matter they do to it.
I went above and beyond to help the buyer repair the item and offered money settlement even though they admitted to breaking it trying avoid me paying almost 300 in return shipping for an oversized item.
The buyer was the most unreasonable person I've ever dealt with and they knew I wouldn't want to pay for a broken product back that could be easily fixed for $20.
With Ebay's insane deadlines dealing with it when I was away for Thanksgiving and the person in Texas time ran out they gave him his money back including shipping and put our account in major overdraft beyond the banks limits which seems insane that they can do that.
More to the story but I can't believe they just let people get away with this type of fraud and they couldn't care about all the evidence I had that he was dishonest.
They send BS messages that you cant reply to and won't answer questions or offer me the apparent seller return shipping help.
I'm just disgusted with the way they handle these issues and have heard similar horror stories from other sellers that have left the site.

$300?
How much did it cost to ship? To what destination?

Your real choices were $300 for a return shipping label and $20 in repair costs.

And resale at a lowered profit.

or

$1500 in goods lost to a less than honest customer.

Replacement or repair is not part of the Money Back Guarantee.

Nor is partial refund.

"I regret you are not happy with your purchase. Please return it for refund."
First time round, don't mention who pays return shipping.

Second communication "Please file a Claim so I can provide return shipping."

Either of these can lead to a lazy scammer dropping their demands.
