Why are there so many scammers on Ebay?

I just started selling on Ebay about 4 days ago and I have had an abundance of scammers. I've made one sale to a legitimate person and I've had 8 scammers make offers on my products everytime it's the same thing, they offer me what the buy it now price is and then try to get me to text them. I have 4 products  worth a combined amount of $870 tied up awaiting payments and I don't know if I should cancel them or wait until I can report it as an unpaid claim. I don't want to get my account pushed down in the algorithm for constantly cancelling orders but when it's obviously a scam I'm not going to follow through with anything. This is very discouraging as a new seller on here. Can anyone shed some light on how to cancel an order without having negative consequences for my account?

The only reason to make an offer for the buy it now price is to try and scam you so don't accept those offers.  As a brand new seller I suggest that you don't sell your item here right now as phones do tend to attract dishonest people.  As far as cancelling the sales, I woukd probably wait until you can file for an unpaid item unkess the buyer has requested  It.

I also suggest that until you get some selling experience here you limit your sales to Canada and the US. Right now you specify worldwide  shipping and that can cause problems too. But the majority of your listings do not show a shipping cost to the US so if you want to ship there you need to set that up.
