why am I being asked to input shipping cost when I have selected, charge actual cost?

I am am trying to list an item to sell from Canada.

I have selected charge actual cost, so that it is calculated then a potential buyer looks at my listing.

but it won't let me post unless I add an actual shipping cost, which I obviously don't know as I dont know the location of the buyer.

Any help would be appreciated.

On the listing page in the shipping section have you specified calculated shipping under 'cost type'?  Above that you also need to pick a shipping method and enter weight and dimensions of the package that it will be shipped in.

i have selected the shipping servise and the weight and dimensions of the parcel but it still wants a shipping cost

Was there a spot to click"done" and did you click it? This new selling form is cold garbage and not at all intuitive.

I am having the same issue, I am forced to manually enter a shipping cost and this was not the case when I listed items less than a week ago. You used to be able to see an estimated cost (minimum & maximum potential cost) for every shipping option and now the option is simply gone, you can only charge a flat fee (with zero indication of what you should expect it to cost) or you offer free shipping. I'm also from Canada so it's possible the issue is only for ebay.ca
