Shipping rates different from Buyer to Seller?

I recently sold two items to separate buyers in the US. Each of them selected Fedex International Economy and paid about $23 CAD. When I go to ship the item that same shipping option, Fedex International Economy, is listed at $64. How can it be that a buyer gets a rate 1/3 of the rate I have to pay for the same shipping mode?

If your personal settings are turned on to show discounted rates, the shipping should be the same at time of processing as long as your measurements and shipping options provided are correct. From a personal point of view with majority of items I would stick with Canada post vs Fedex or UPS. There have been many reported issues posted with discrepancies after the fact. Something you cannot recover once buyer has paid. Setting for discounted rates below.

Checking a few of your listings I am seeing mainly priority type premium services. CP USA tracked is currently highly discounted compared to the other services and is very reliable.

If your dimensions in your listing were exactly the same as when you went to print your label I'm not sure why the costs would be different.  Since you would be paying more than your buyer, it wouldn't have anything to do with whether or not your preferences were set up to pass on the discount to the buyer.

Did you ask your buyers if you could send their items via Canada Post/USPS?  I am guessing that the only reason they chose Fedex is that they show as the least expensive so they might not mind if you switch since they would be paying the same either way.

For me it is easier and more accurate to ship using Canada Post rather than one of the couriers.

What State were they going to?

Does FedEX make a difference between USA rates and International rates?
That might be the answer.

Also FedEX are a nasty piece of work.
