Who is responsible for collecting GST on eBay sales? eBay or the seller?

At the current time, the Seller (if registered to collect) is responsible for GST.

eBay (if required by law) deals with sales tax if the item is shipped to other countries/states.

Are you referring to an eBay “tax invoice” or possibly the GST/VAT you see in a statement from eBay? This thread may help:

If you are not registered to collect the GST, do NOT attempt to do so.

And as lady.stark says, you must register if your gross sales (including shipping paid to you) are $30K or more.

If you have other online or B&M businesses, you can share a GST number.

The anwser is not that simple. If you are registered to collect taxes from Canadian buyers, you need to collect the taxes. Note that it is only required if you are grossing $30,000 or more.

As for USA or worldwide buyers, this is the responsibility of eBay.
