August 31st 2016 Weekly Session

Hello everyone,

Welcome to our weekly chat. This week, the thread will remain open until tomorrow as usual.

Note: we have another thread going for questions & comments around the 2016 Fall Seller Update. Please keep posts on that topic for that thread so that other users can benefit from the information. Thanks!

Open issues:

  • CA Shopping cart erroneously applying free shipping on multiple orders (under investigation)
  • Automotive listings losing images when changing duration to GTC
  • Best Offer on listings that didn't have it in the first place (need examples)
  • Request Total unavailable

Updates:

  • Errors when uploading more than one tracking number at a time (repeated, erroneous numbers saved) - Ticket has gone dormant. Will move off the list until new reports show the issue is still occurring.
  • Anchor Store coupon not working/only working on AU site - Issue has been identified and is being worked on between eBay and PayPal. In the meantime CS has been provided with tools to help affected sellers with a work around.
  • Printer friendly Order Details page missing items - Resolved - fix rolled out or to roll out soon.
  • Selling limits live items count discrepancy - We are investigating further.
  • Missing Tracked Packet destinationsstill no update from PayPal and Pitney Bowes
  • Combined shipping offers not shown to international buyers - ticket open

If anything is missing, please let me know. Thanks!

Good Afternoon, Beautiful day here in the neighbourhood

Sorry but I also am interested in a response to Pierre's question. Raphael, we live in Ont. we are already bent over from all forms of gov. including Hydro One can't ebay give us a few more crumbs for the store increases, we just keep hearing of things being taken away, yet the executive is drooling over going forward how great it is for sellers. What can you share with us on some "near future" goodies for sellers? Please, something positive other than new sellers hub as that will also "have growing pains" = seller pains. Not being neg. based on ebay's past performance.

I izzame,

Unfortunately I am not at liberty to share upcoming things that haven't been announced yet. Seller Hub is going through its growing pains now, it should be at its best iteration when it rolls into Canada. We haven't really been deploying new product this way before so hopefully it feels different, better for you as well.

As I told Pierre, I'll share news on the Stores traffic reports as soon as I get any.

We badly need clarification on the new demand for UPC codes on all listings.

Those of us who sell vintage goods are often selling products produced before UPC codes were available.

Then there are anomalies like the demand for UPC codes on sewing patterns, when the listing form (dotCA and dotCOM) will not accept the bar code on the package.

And the ongoing problem in Books, where the only ISBN numbers accepted are from American publishers. So that British, Canadian and Australian editions with ISBN numbers can only be listed as Not Applicable.

The NOT APPLICABLE option has to remain.

And if a seller decides she won't use it, well it's her decision to forego the extra viewability the code allows on Google.

Once I get word from the team who manages that, I'll update the seller update thread.

Hi Raphael,

If eBay really wants to benefit and compensate eBay.ca sellers for increased store subscription fees they should design a "coupon" for "general use" and not for overpriced shipping supplies that most sellers won't get much use out of.

eBay Sellers that have a Basic Store Subscription can't really use their coupon because of the "low" value of the coupon. eBay Sellers with a Premium Store subscription still have to pay out of pocket because the coupon still won't cover the entire cost.

I can go to my local Staples store and purchase exactly what I need for a fraction of the price.

An eBay coupon or store credit should be used for general use, purchasing whatever we want or desire, like the "eBay bucks" program they had set up a few years ago.

If I'm going to reinvest in eBay I would like to purchase what I want on eBay and not for shipping supplies that I will never get any use out of.....

Thanks,

Derrick

Thanks for the suggestion, Derrick.

The correct URL for the promo terms is http://pages.ebay.ca/promo/2016/1Wk_ZeroInsertion.html

The Promo team is working to fix that link in My eBay.

By my reading of the attached below, I assume it can be used by a Canadian Resident and lists on .ca as well as .com under their Canadian ID as it does not say listing on .ca only? Or is this another one the the Ebay poor info statements..

Who’s eligible?
This Promotion is available to invited sellers who: (i) received an email and/or message in My eBay; (ii) activated the promotion from the invitation email or on the Promotion landing page; (iii) country of residence associated with the eBay ID is Canada, and (iv) meet eBay’s minimum seller performance standards.

"as well as .com "

Not quite,  The promotion states: "... for listings on www.ebay.ca"

2 Questions on the Bulk Editing Tool - If anyone is still around..
what do the Error Messages mean:
1) Shipping Service is capped on Ebay.com ( I list on .ca)
2) Invalid Value for Topic
The shipping capped one seems to be against my items with very low shipping costs ....

Canadian Ebay Promo -50% off FVF for items sold over $50 -just ended Aug 28th -
I listed 7 items over $50 in this period - but didn't see the Counter log them against this promo on the Selling Manager Page ...Now the Counter is gone as the promo period is over ... so How do i track if these listings were indeed included in this Promo ??
Should I bring this up to Customer service Now - or wait til one sells and thus qualifies first ?
Thank you - Melanie - BC Canada

That can be an error or a just a warning message.

For the stuff I'm relisting it's just a warning that .com does have shipping $ limits for certain categories for flat rate shipping to the USA (they're borrowing from the fixed limits the A-river has for the USA). If you use a flat rate and it is over the $ limit, then search visibility to US buyers is reduced.

For categories and .com shipping limits:

You check your fees in your Account section. The discount will show when the item sells (I had one today with the discount applied to the fees), even though there is no counter showing.

Seriously.
This is such an ongoing irritant, why not just drop it entirely until eBay can make a reasonable promotion out of it?

For example, hire one of those unpaid trustfund baby interns to do some research on Canadian printers who make these branded goods inhouse if Toronto doesn't have any actual staff available.

Here's a start:

Or just move to stickon labels with the eBay logo and the seller's address. 500 for $5 delivered. Seller supplies all other packaging.
There a free gratis for nothing concept.
Run with it.
