Bulk Edit Problem

Hi all,

I have been trying to change some information on my listings using the bulk edit feature.

I wanted to remove a paragraph from my item descriptions using the find and replace feature. I have tried to use it in the past and it didn't work but I thought maybe it was a fluke.

I filled out the "find" category with a copy and pasted paragraph from one of my listings and left the "replace with" section blank which is what is says to do if you just want to remove some text.

I followed every step, it shows up with the green checkmark and says your listings have been updated, then the confirm button comes up and the finish button, I click on all of them then it says I'm all done, but when I double check the listings nothing has changed.

Any ideas?

I have found that the Find and Replace in the Description option for Bulk Edit does not work that well.  It works for a short 4-5-6 word change but when it comes to sentences or paragraphs, it does not work.

The Find and Replace works on HTML also. So perhaps you need to copy the HTML equivalent of what you want to change/delete.

You can preview your changes in bulk edit so you can know right away if it took effect. You may have to do the customize feature to show the preview button. I have moved the Preview button (a magnifying glass) to the extreme left in the bulk edit table. This allows me to preview the listing and see if changes work.

You might want to try just deleting a few words and see if that works. Then delete a sentence at a time???

Not too sure.  I have successfully made bulk edit changes to the description but most were just a few words or an HTML fix.

Thanks so much for the ideas poco, I have never noticed a preview option, I guess I will look a bit harder to see if I can find it. So many buttons and links... so little time ha ha ha.

It is so tiring trying to update listings when the bulk edit doesn't work, individually is very time consuming.

I am wondering if anyone can recommend a good bulk edit tool to change the html in the description field of my Ebay listings other than Ebay's bulk edit? Currently I have over 800 listings and over time the info their (for delivery times and such) have changed so not all are the same. Looking for a way to actually edit the html starting at a specific point (or line in the html), then continue all the way to the end of the description, regardless what is after that specific line. For example, if you look at one of my listings, i would like to change everything from "Payment Information" and down in all of my listings. If anyone could help I would appreciate it.

I have had to do that a few times over the years.  Back when I was active and had over 3,000 listings in my store.

And I did them one at the time using Copy and Paste.  And, in retrospect, I am glad I did.  It forced me to look at each listing for a minute or two, reevaluate the pricing structure, check the inventory level, etc...

Yes, it is time consuming but well worth it.

800 listings x 4 minutes each = 55 hours or so.
